Optical fiber winding bobbin, optical fiber winding method, and bobbin-wound optical fiber

An optical fiber winding bobbin includes: a main winding body portion having an outer circumferential surface around which an optical fiber is wound; and a main winding flange that is disposed on one end portion of the main winding body portion in an axial direction and that protrudes radially outward. The main winding flange includes: an inner circumferential edge portion connected to the main winding body portion; a central portion; and an outer circumferential portion having a thin portion and positioned outward from the central portion in a radial direction. An axial thickness of the thin portion is smaller than an axial thickness of the inner circumferential edge.

The instant application discloses, among other things, a way to repair a spool. In one embodiment, the way to repair the spool may include a disk configured to receive a coupler. The coupler may be projected from a center of the disk. In another embodiment, the coupler may have prongs with various dimensions attached along its length. This may provide a fix for damaged flange portions of wire or cable spools, thereby preventing cable or wire, wound around a spool's tubular core, from coming undone or tangling.

A cable reel may include a first reel portion configured to hold a bundle of cable, and a second reel portion configured to be coupled with the first reel portion and to retain the bundle of cable on the first reel portion. The second reel portion may include a first impact portion radially outward of a hub portion and a second impact portion radially outward of the first impact portion between the first impact portion and a perimeter wall of the flange portion. The second impact portion may include a radially outer wall that is configured to deflect radially inward to absorb an impact force impacting the perimeter wall at a location radially aligned with the second impact portion, and the first impact portion may include a radially outer wall that is configured to deflect radially inward to absorb an impact force impacting the perimeter wall at a location circumferentially spaced from the radially outer wall. The first and second impact portions may be configured to provide absorption of impact forces impinging on any point along the perimeter wall so as to provide 360? of breakage protection against impact forces impinging on the perimeter wall.

Device for adjusting the inter-flange space of a bobbin

The invention concerns a bobbin (1) for winding and unwinding a link such as a cable or similar, comprising: a central mandrel (10) comprising two opposing faces (11, 12) perpendicular to a rotational axis (13) of the bobbin (1), two sets of arms (21) each mounted on a respective opposing face of the central mandrel (10), each arm being in contact with an intermediate support positioned between the two ends of same, characterized in that the bobbin comprises a plurality of adjustment elements (30) each associated with a respective arm, the actuation of an adjustment element resulting in a force being applied to the associated arm of same through the intermediate support, the application of said force tending to vary the inclination of said arm around the intermediate support in such a way as to adjust the position of said arm in a plane essentially parallel to the rotational axis of the bobbin.
