A method and a device are described for displacing air from bottles of carbonated beverages. Sound waves may be emitted from at least one sound source and propagate through the ambient air, penetrate through the mouths into the beverage and/or make the walls of the bottles vibrate so that CO.sub.2 is expelled from the beverage and the beverage foams in the headspace such that air contained therein is displaced through the mouth. The oxygen content in the beverage can thus be reduced flexibly and in an adjustable manner with comparatively little expenditure on equipment and for different bottle formats.

The elevating mechanism varies the depth with which the pipe and/or at least one of the tubes is inserted in the container. A method for filling containers with a liquid is also provided, wherein the liquid and an inert gas are injected simultaneously through two separate tubes. The tubes are each connectable/connected to one of the connections connectable/connected to a source of liquid, a source of an inert gas and to a suction device.

A system for manufacturing a filled plastic container includes an actuator, a base unit including a heating surface, and a dispensing device or nozzle. The actuator includes a body portion and a holding/securing member configured to hold or secure a portion of the container. In embodiments, the actuator is configured to apply a force or pressure on the container to contact the base unit, the base unit is configured to receive a base portion of the container, the heating surface is configured to convey energy or heat to a portion of the base portion of the container, and the dispensing device or nozzle is configured to introduce an inert gas into the container. The method includes the steps of moving the injection head away from the sealing position to a first non-sealing position, moving the injection head from the first non-sealing position back to the sealing position, and after moving the injection head back, moving the injection head away from the sealing position to a second non-sealing position that is different from the first non-sealing position.
