OVERFILL SPILL PREVENTION DEVICE FOR FUEL DISPENSING NOZZLES
20230234831 · 2023-07-27 ·

A filler neck adaptor for use with manually operated fuel dispensing nozzles. Adaptor provides a visual cue that a target fuel level in the tank has been reached during tank filling operations. Adaptor comprises a flanged extension tube with an overflow reservoir sealed to the upper surface of the flange. A slidably adjustable securement ring is mounted on the extension tube. The securement ring is designed to mate with tank closure features on the filler neck. An airlock tank seal is installed on the lower surface of the securement ring to establish a seal between the securement ring and the tank filler neck. During filling displaced air in the tank is forced to exit the tank via an air vent passageway between the nozzle and the inside surface of the adaptor extension tube. As the rising fuel level in tank nears the distal end of the extension tube, wisps of fuel becomes entrapped in the airstream and become visible in the transparent overflow reservoir. This visual cue that the tank is full allows the operator to stop fuel flow prior to overflow spillage.

METHOD FOR PREVENTING SPILLS RESULTING FROM PIPELINE FAILURES
20230017448 · 2023-01-19 · ·

A petroleum pipeline safety system for preventing contamination of an environmentally sensitive area close to a pipeline is provided. The system includes a first portion of the pipeline including an upstream portion of the pipeline supplying a flow of fluid material and a flow restriction downstream of the first portion of the pipeline. The system further includes a second portion of the pipeline downstream of the flow restriction, receiving the flow of fluid material from the first portion and conveying the flow of fluid material through the environmentally sensitive area to a downstream portion of the pipeline. The flow restriction is configured to create a lower pipeline internal pressure within the second portion as compared to a pipeline internal pressure within the first portion. The system further includes a third portion of the pipeline downstream of the environmentally sensitive area and including the downstream portion of the pipeline.

Ullage Float Assembly For Fuel Tank And Methods Of Use

Ullage float assemblies for fuel tanks are disclosed including a guide member with a retaining element mounted to a valve body which includes a first valve port and a second valve port in fluid communication. Methods of preventing spillage of fuel from a fuel tank during a refueling and a diurnal fuel volumetric expansion event are also disclosed. The assemblies and methods.

BACKSPLASH PROTECTOR
20220380197 · 2022-12-01 ·

A backsplash protector device for use with a fuel tank or a motorcycle gas tank to prevent fuel from jumping or splashing from the opening of the gas tank during a fuel filling operation, and a vapor tube lock device for application to a gas nozzle to hold the vapor tube of the gas nozzle in a retracted or compressed position to permit a greater portion of the nozzle to be inserted through the backsplash protector and into the fuel tank without obscuring or blocking the user's ability to visually monitor the fuel flow, the fuel level within the tank, and/or the relative position of the nozzle (and the nozzle end from which fuel flows) within the tank.

MULTI-RECEPTACLE FUEL FILLING AND STORAGE SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME

The present disclosure generally relates to a multiple receptacle fuel filling and storage system in a vehicle and/or powertrain, and a method of using the same.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FUEL MONITORING AND SPILL PREVENTION
20230057254 · 2023-02-23 · ·

A system, methods, and apparatus for preventing receptacle overfilling are presented. The system can include a sensor member configured to couple with a receptacle and sense a material level within the receptacle, such as via a sight glass of the receptacle. The system can include a controller in operable communication with the sensor member and configured to instantiate the shutoff of material flow from a material dispensing system if a particular material level is detected by the sensor member. The system can include an intermediate member configured to relay communications between the sensor member and the controller. The intermediate member can be coupled to a fluid line and can further act as a holster for the sensor member, such as by facilitating the coupling of the sensor member to the intermediate member and/or the fluid line.

Methods and systems for on demand fuel supply

A float probe configured to regulate fluid flow into a fluid container is disclosed. The float probe comprises an upper assembly having one or more outlets, a plurality of rods extending from the upper assembly to a lower assembly and a float assembly disposed between the upper assembly and the lower assembly. A first distal end of the rods is coupled to the upper assembly and a second distal end of the rods is coupled to the lower assembly. The rods extend along an outer surface of the float assembly and the float assembly is movable along the rods between a first position proximate to the upper assembly and a second position proximate to the lower assembly. The float assembly prevents fluid flow out of the outlets when disposed in the first position.

AUTOMATIC DEF TANK FILLING SYSTEM
20220356827 · 2022-11-10 ·

A fluid filling system for filling a tank from a source of fluid. The system is particularly beneficial for filling a DEF tank. The system has a pump connected to a fluid source, such as DEF. A fill hose has a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is connected to the pump. The distal end includes at least one first sensor mounted adjacent the distal end. The distal end is adapted for insertion into the tank. A CPU is operatively connected to the first sensor and the pump. The first sensor communicates with the CPU to energize the pump when the sensor fails to sense fluid when the fill hose is inserted into the tank. The CPU deenergizes the pump when the first sensor senses fluid when inserted into the tank. As a result, the fluid filling system continually fills the container through the fill hose.

Conversion frame for fuel dispenser

A conversion frame assembly configured to secure a fuel dispenser to a concrete pad and direct leaked fuel from the fuel dispenser into a sump at least partially embedded in the concrete pad. The conversion frame assembly includes a frame having a fluid passageway and a splash lip extending upward from the base plate and around the fluid passageway. The conversion frame assembly also includes a drainage tray configured to be coupled to the splash lip of the frame. When the drainage tray is coupled to the splash lip of the frame, an upper surface of the drainage tray defines a weir sloping inward and downward toward the fluid passageway in the base plate.
