Hydrogen and Power Production with Sorbent Enhanced Reactor Steam Reformer and Carbon Capture
An apparatus for generating hydrogen from solid carbonaceous feed stock for production of electricity, chemicals, or fuels using all-steam gasification includes a micronized char preparation system comprising a devolatilizer and an indirect all-steam gasifier generating syngas. A syngas cooler is configured to at least partial quench the syngas and can to produce steam. A syngas clean up system removes ash and residual carbon, a carbon-capture system includes a water gas shift system and CO.sub.2 removal system. A pressure swing absorber (PSA) generating tailgas. An oxygen-fueled burner receives tailgas from the PSA and provides heat to a sorbent enhanced reformer (SER) battery limit system. A hydrogen cooler receives tailgas from the PSA that provides heat to the SER battery limit system. A CO.sub.2 cooler receives tailgas from the PSA that providing heat to the sorbent enhanced reformer battery limit system.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A SYNTHESIS GAS
Process for manufacturing a hydrogen-containing synthesis gas from a natural gas feedstock, comprising the conversion of said natural gas into a raw product gas and purification of said product gas, the process having a heat input provided by combustion of a fuel; said process comprises a step of conversion of a carbonaceous feedstock, and at least a portion of said fuel is a gaseous fuel obtained by said step of conversion of said carbonaceous feedstock.
PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SYNGAS
The invention is directed to a process for the preparation of a syngas comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide from a methane comprising gas, which process comprises the steps of: (a) reacting the methane comprising gas with an oxidising gas in an autothermal reformer to obtain a hot raw syngas comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen; (b) cooling the hot raw syngas resulting from step (a) to obtain the syngas, wherein step (b) comprises cooling the hot raw syngas by indirect heat exchange against the methane comprising gas used in step (a) and wherein sulphur is added upstream of cooling step (b). The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of hydrocarbon products in which a feed syngas is prepared in the process as described above followed by a desulphurisation treatment and the desulphurised syngas is subsequently converted into hydrocarbon products in a Fischer-Tropsch process.
System for combined hydrogen and electricity production using petroleum fuels
A SOFC system for producing a refined carbon dioxide product, electrical power, and a compressed hydrogen product is presented. The system can include a hydrodesulfurization system, a steam reformer, a water-gas shift reactor system, a hydrogen purification system, a hydrogen compression and storage system, a pre-reformer, and a CO2 purification and liquidification system.
PROCESS
A process for the manufacture of one or more useful products comprises: gasifying a carbonaceous feedstock comprising waste materials and/or biomass in a gasification zone to generate a raw synthesis gas; supplying at least a portion of the raw synthesis gas to a clean-up zone to remove contaminants and provide a clean synthesis gas; supplying the clean synthesis gas to a first further reaction train to generate at least one first useful product and a tailgas; and diverting selectively on demand a portion of at least one of the carbonaceous feedstock, the clean synthesis gas, the tailgas and the light gas fraction to heat or power generation within the process, in response to external factors to control the carbon intensity of the overall process and enable GHG emission savings.
Refinery gas processing method
A process for hydrogen recovery from refinery gas system comprising supplying the refinery gas to an inlet manifold fluidly coupled to a conditioning stage, the conditioning stage comprising a reactor having a reforming catalyst deposited on an ultra-short-channel-length metal substrate; supplying oxidant to the conditioning stage via the inlet manifold; supplying steam from a steam generator to the conditioning stage via the inlet , manifold; reacting the refinery gas in the conditioning stage; and discharging a product through a discharge outlet fluidly coupled to the conditioning stage, the discharge outlet configured to flow the product for use by a downstream reformer. The process allows to either increase the H2 production rate or lower the firing rate while maintaining a constant H2 production rate for the downstream steam reformer, independent of the feed compositional variability of the refinery or still gas.
