METHOD AND PLANT FOR PRODUCING HYDROGEN
The invention relates to a method for producing hydrogen, in which, in a non-electrolytic method, a carbonaceous feed material is converted into non-electrolytically produced hydrogen and one or more further non-electrolytically produced products, and furthermore excess steam is provided using the non-electrolytic process. According to the invention at least a part of the excess steam is used at least intermittently to provide feed steam, which is converted by means of steam electrolysis to electrolytic hydrogen and electrolytic oxygen. The present invention also relates to a corresponding plant.
HYDROGEN STORAGE METHOD, HYDROGEN GAS PRODUCTION METHOD AND HYDROGEN GAS PRODUCTION SYSTEM
The present invention relates to a hydrogen gas production method, which includes: a first step of concentrating an aqueous solution containing an alkali metal formate; a second step of protonating at least a part of the alkali metal formate by electrodialysis to produce a formic acid; and a third step of decomposing the formic acid to produce a hydrogen gas.
SYSTEM NETWORK AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A SYSTEM NETWORK OF THIS TYPE FOR PRODUCING HIGHER ALCOHOLS
A plant complex may include a unit that produces CO.sub.2-containing gases, a gas conducting system for CO.sub.2-containing gases, a gas/liquid separation system, a reformer that is connected to the gas conducting system and where the CO.sub.2-containing gas reacts with H.sub.2 and/or hydrocarbons to give a CO— and H.sub.2-containing synthesis gas mixture. The reformer is connected to a reactor for producing higher alcohols in which the synthesis gas mixture reacts with H.sub.2 to give a gas/liquid mixture containing higher alcohols. For separating off the alcohols of the gas/liquid mixture, the gas/liquid separation system is connected to the reactor for producing higher alcohols.
METHODS FOR PREPARING HYDROGEN AND SOLID CARBON FROM A GASEOUS HYDROCARBON SOURCE USING MICROWAVES AND/OR RADIO WAVES
Provided are methods for preparing hydrogen and solid carbon. Illustrative methods comprise providing a feedstock comprising gaseous hydrocarbons to a microwave-inert reaction vessel and/or a radio wave-inert reaction vessel. The reaction vessel has solid carbon, about 0% water and about 0% molecular oxygen inside the reaction vessel and the carbon inside the reaction vessel is operable to heat the feedstock comprising gaseous hydrocarbons. The carbon is then exposed to microwaves and/or radio waves until the solid carbon is at a temperature of at least 1200 Kelvin, thereby forming hydrogen and solid carbon. Once formed, the hydrogen and solid carbon are separated.
Engine Fuel-Reforming Reactors, Systems, and Methods
An engine system for internal combustion and reformation of a fuel includes an engine, and a reforming reactor. The engine comprising an intake manifold for receiving a first fuel and an exhaust manifold for releasing an exhaust gas. The reforming reactor includes a first end portion, a second end, a wall having an outer surface and an inner surface. The inner surface defines an interior cavity for receiving the first fuel, a second fuel, reactants for the first fuel, or combinations thereof. The exhaust manifold of the system is sized and shaped for receiving a portion of the reforming reactor such that the exhaust gas flows along a surface of the reforming reactor within the exhaust manifold.
NATURAL GAS REFORMING SYSTEM AND PROCESS THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to a natural gas reforming system capable of reducing, by using a co-electrolysis device, the emission amount of carbon dioxide produced by reforming natural gas, of supplying heat to a reformer through syngas produced by the co-electrolysis, and of producing additional hydrogen, and a process thereof.
HYDROGEN PRODUCTION FROM GEOTHERMAL RESOURCES USING CLOSED-LOOP SYSTEMS
Described are methods and systems for producing hydrogen using closed-loop geothermal technology from geothermal, oil and gas or other resources. Various configurations and types of closed-loop systems are described which enable the capture, transfer and use of heat from the resource and from chemical reactions from the processes and methods employed and to also create high down bore pressure, in each case to enhance the technical and commercial efficiency of various hydrogen production methods. As hydrogen is created at high pressures and purities which are necessary for delivery and commercial use of hydrogen, the need for additional compression and purification activities is minimized. Various of the methods and systems described can make hydrogen produced from fossil fuel inputs less carbon intensive and make renewable fuel inputs produce hydrogen entirely without carbon outputs, thereby contributing substantially to the reduction of greenhouse gasses.
PROCESS
A process for the manufacture of one or more useful products comprises: gasifying a carbonaceous feedstock comprising waste materials and/or biomass in a gasification zone to generate a raw synthesis gas; supplying at least a portion of the raw synthesis gas to a clean-up zone to remove contaminants and provide a clean synthesis gas; supplying the clean synthesis gas to a first further reaction train to generate at least one first useful product and a tailgas; and diverting selectively on demand a portion of at least one of the carbonaceous feedstock, the clean synthesis gas, the tailgas and the light gas fraction to heat or power generation within the process, in response to external factors to control the carbon intensity of the overall process and enable GHG emission savings.
