Method for separating off and immobilizing carbon dioxide and/or carbon monoxide from an exhaust gas

The invention relates to a method for separating off and immobilizing carbon dioxide and/or carbon monoxide from an exhaust gas (18). In the method, a stoichiometric ratio of carbon dioxide to hydrogen, and/or of carbon monoxide to hydrogen, which is suitable for a methanation reaction is set by virtue of a corresponding quantity of hydrogen or alternatively carbon dioxide and/or possibly carbon monoxide being supplied, with an auxiliary gas (24), to the exhaust gas (18). Subsequently, a catalytic reaction is performed in which, as starting products, carbon dioxide and/or carbon monoxide and hydrogen are converted into methane and water. The methane is separated off from the product of the catalytic reaction and is subsequently split into carbon and hydrogen, wherein the carbon takes solid form. The split-off carbon is collected and disposed of.

Method and device for catalytic methanation of synthesis gas

The method for catalytic methanation of synthesis gas includes the following steps: 1) feeding the synthesis gas into the bottom of a reactor of an upward concurrent flow transporting bed so as to adequately mix and preheat with methanation catalyst entering the bottom of the reactor until the activation temperature of the catalyst is reached and then the methanation reaction begins; and 2) after the methanation reaction, immediately passing the product gas and the catalyst grains outputted from the transporting bed into a gas-solid separator to perform a rapid separation so as to obtain the product gas.

Systems and methods for the synthesis of ammonia includes a reformer; a carbon monoxide converter; a carbon dioxide scrubber unit with recovery; a methanation unit; and an ammonia synthesis unit; wherein the carbon dioxide scrubber unit with recovery is connected to at least one fired auxiliary steam boiler.

Process and apparatus for the production of synthesis gas

Reactive diluent fluid (22) is introduced into a stream of synthesis gas (or syngas) produced in a heat-generating unit such as a partial oxidation (POX) reactor (12) to cool the syngas and form a mixture of cooled syngas and reactive diluent fluid. Carbon dioxide and/or carbon components and/or hydrogen in the mixture of cooled syngas and reactive diluent fluid is reacted (26) with at least a portion of the reactive diluent fluid in the mixture to produce carbon monoxide-enriched and/or solid carbon depleted syngas which is fed into a secondary reformer unit (30) such as an enhanced heat transfer reformer in a heat exchange reformer process. An advantage of the invention is that problems with the mechanical integrity of the secondary unit arising from the high temperature of the syngas from the heat-generating unit are avoided.
