The treated partially-dewatered matrix is transferred to a digester where the treated partially-dewatered matrix is subjected to anaerobic digestion. Biogas is recovered from the treated partially-dewatered matrix during the anaerobic digestion. The treated partially-dewatered matrix is dried and subjected to a second electron-beam radiation dose.
