METHOD FOR TREATING WATERS, SEDIMENTS AND/OR SLUDGES
The present invention relates to a method for conditioning water, sediments and/or sludges using alkaline earth metal peroxide, in particular calcium peroxide, and cable bacteria, to a kit comprising a composition comprising at least one alkaline earth metal peroxide and cable bacteria, and to uses of a composition which comprises at least one alkaline earth metal peroxide in combination with cable bacteria.
AMORPHOUS COBALT-INHERENT SILICON OXIDE CATALYST
Claimed herein is a method of applying amorphous Co—SiOx to activate PMS and produce SO.sub.4..sup.− due to the formation of Co(II)-O.sub.v, pairs via the substitution of Si by Co. The inherent Co significantly change the electronic structure of O and Si atoms in the Co—SiOx via final state effects and increase the conductivity in terms of more effective electron transfers. The claimed method using Co—SiOx functions as a more effective oxidative catalyst for the faster degradation of pollutants. The simplicity of the synthetic procedures indicates that the conductive Co—SiOx could be used for the activation of PMS and other electrochemical applications on a wider scale.
COMPOSITION FOR pH CONTROL
A composition for treating swimming pool water comprises sodium bisulphate and aluminium sulphate. The aluminium sulphate in the composition minimizes the precipitation of sodium bisulphate at temperatures lower than about 5 degrees Celsius for a time period to maintain a concentrated form of acid to control the pH level of the water. In some embodiments, the composition includes 30 to 40% sodium bisulphate (NaHSO4) wt/wt %, 0.2% to 5% aluminium sulphate Al2(SO4)3 wt/wt %, 0.1% to 1% copper sulphate/chelating agent wt/wt %, 0.01% to 0.02% sodium hydroxide, and balance water.
WATER REMEDIATION SYSTEM
A water remediation system and accompanying method includes remediation by reducing the concentration of nutrients in the water and dosing the water with metal ions. It has been found that through a combination of reducing nutrients present in the water and treating with metal ions, the requirement to treat with high chemical dosages is removed.
RECIRCULATING, PURIFYING, DISINFECTING, COOLING, DECONTAMINATING, FEEDBACK CONTROLLED WATER SYSTEM FOR DRINKING WATER AND OTHER USES TO IMPROVE HEALTH AND WELL BEING OF ANIMALS AND HUMANS
A water purification system provides clean water for the consumption by livestock by using a continuously recirculating water loop. Optionally, a circulating pump moves the water within the water loop in a flow direction. A water supply inlet is fluidically connected to the water loop to provide additional water. A particle filter system (or systems) is fluidically connected in series and removes dissolved solids or particulates within the water. An ozone purification system and/or with the addition of other antimicrobial or purification agents is fluidically connected in parallel to a portion of the continuously recirculating feedback monitored and control water loop. The ozone purification system is disposed downstream of the particle filter system and RO (or similar) system in relation to the flow direction. A feeding station is connected in series with the continuously recirculating water loop disposed downstream of the ozone purification system in relation to the flow direction.
METHOD FOR RECYCLING OILFIELD AND OTHER WASTEWATER
The present invention pertains to a process for treating waste water from mining. The process involves contacting the mining waste water with an emulsion of a nano scale compound comprising iron, magnesium, or both. Mixing results in a substantially foam-like layer at the surface of the mixture which may be further oxidized to form treated water.
PROCESSES FOR TREATMENT OF RESIDUALS
There are provided processes for treating a residual. For example, such processes can comprise treating a mixture comprising the residual, a peracid or source thereof and an ammonium salt in a reactor, with an electric field, by means of at least one anode and at least one cathode that define therebetween an electrokinetic zone for treating the mixture. Such processes allow for inactivation of at least one type of pathogen in the residual so as to obtain a treated residual.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OXIDIZING DISINFECTANTS COMBINED WITH MOVING BED BIOFILM REACTORS
In one embodiment, a system includes a disinfection system configured to disinfect a first fluid. The system further includes a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) system configured to treat a second fluid, wherein the disinfection system is fluidly coupled to the MBBR system upstream of the MBBR system, downstream of the MBBR, or wherein the disinfection system is disposed in the MBBR system.
MULTI-STAGE APPARATUS AND PROCESS FOR ADVANCED OXIDATION TREATMENT OF WASTEWATER
The present disclosure discloses a multi-stage apparatus and process for advanced oxidation treatment of wastewater, and belongs to the field of wastewater treatment in environmental protection. The apparatus includes a liquid-liquid mixing unit, a preheating unit, a gas-liquid mixing unit, a parallel photocatalytic reactor group and an oxidation tower connected in sequence. According to characteristics of free radical reactions, the parallel photocatalytic reactor group and the oxidation tower in the apparatus are reasonably designed, utilization rates of the ozone and the hydrogen peroxide are increased, and the wastewater treatment cost is reduced.
METHOD FOR SYNTHESIZING A MICRO/NANOSPHERE-CONTAINING COMPOSITE
A composite nanomaterial of ZnO impregnated by, e.g., a green copper phthalocyanine compound (CuPc) can be an efficient solar light photocatalyst for water remediation. The composite may include hollow shell microspheres and hollow nanospheres of CuPc-ZnO. CuPc may function as a templating and/or structure modifying agent, e.g., for forming hollow microspheres and/or nanospheres of ZnO particles. The composite can photocatalyze the degradation of organic pollutants such as crystal violet (CV) and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid as well as microbes in water under solar light irradiation. The ZnO-CuPc composite can be stable and recyclable under solar irradiation.
