Waste management system
A waste management system for plastic or other material floating on the surface and in the subsurface of a body of water. A shredding device will reduce the size of the particles of waste. Ocean water is removed by a drying device. The dried waste material is frozen to a temperature at or below minus fifty degrees Fahrenheit, using liquid nitrogen or other suitable means. The frozen waste material is then pulverized and ground into a powder. The powder may then be sprayed into a gas-filled chamber and heated. Temperature, pressure and humidity are maintained within the chamber for more than one minute. Microwave or other radiation and catalysts may be used to enhance the process of extraction. The processed material is then removed from the chamber. Carbon may be recycled or used as fuel by the ship. Water may be used by the ship or returned to the ocean.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING FREEZE-DRIED SLUDGE
A process (S1) for producing freeze-dried sludge includes: an acclimatization step (S10) of imposing a load on cells of a microorganism in activated sludge to acclimatize the cells; a production increase step (S21) of subjecting the activated sludge to a production increase operation in which production of an extracellular polymer by the cells is increased after the acclimatization step (S10); and a freeze-drying step (S30) of freeze-drying the activated sludge after the production increase step (S21).

POLYHYDROXYALKANOATES EXTRACTION SYSTEM
A polyhydroxyalkanoates extraction system comprises a pretreatment subsystem, an extraction subsystem and a recycling subsystem. The pretreatment subsystem comprises a fermentation device and an activation device so as to carry out a microorganism acclimation process. The extraction subsystem comprises a freezing device, a pretreatment device and an extraction device. The extraction subsystem is used for receiving a third sludge so that the third sludge is subjected to a freezing process, a pretreatment process, an extraction process and a purification process in the freezing device to form a polyhydroxyalkanoates mixture, and the extraction device performs a precipitation process to generate polyhydroxyalkanoates precipitate. The recycling subsystem comprises an aerobic sludge digestion device and a sequencing batch reactor activated sludge treatment device so as to carry out an aerobic sludge digestion process and a sequencing batch reactor activated sludge process.
