Utilization of biogas scrubber in anaerobic membrane bioreactor systems

Methods of controlling hydrogen sulfide concentration of a biogas occupying an anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) containing a submerged membrane are disclosed herein. Methods of controlling dissolved sulfide concentration of a mixed liquor within the AnMBR are disclosed. The methods include directing wastewater containing sulfur and a chemical oxygen demand (COD) to an AnMBR, withdrawing at least a fraction of the biogas from the AnMBR, directing a pre-determined amount of the withdrawn biogas to a scrubber, directing a remainder of the withdrawn biogas to a gas distributor, and directing the scrubbed biogas to the AnMBR. Systems for treating wastewater having sulfur and COD are disclosed. The systems include an AnMBR, a scouring gas closed loop, a scrubber, and a control mechanism for directing biogas to the scrubber and to a gas distributor. Methods of retrofitting a system for treating wastewater having sulfur and COD are disclosed.

SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE AND SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING MAGNESIUM

A system for producing magnesium chloride includes a removal unit, and a concentration unit that is connected to the removal unit. The removal unit generates feedstock water by removing sulfate ions and sodium ions from treatment target water having seawater as a feedstock. The concentration unit generates a slurry in which magnesium chloride is crystallized by concentrating the feedstock water. The removal unit has a first removal unit which reduces the sulfate ion concentration compared to the sulfate ion concentration in the treatment target water, and a second removal unit which reduces the sodium ion concentration compared to the sodium ion concentration in the treatment target water.

CREATION OF AN IRON PRODUCT FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT

An embodiment provides a method for making a non-hazardous iron product for treating wastewater, including: adding sodium bisulfite to a solution comprising iron, creating an aqueous solution; adding an amount of sodium hydroxide to the aqueous solution to increase the pH of the aqueous solution to between 2-2.5; determining an amount of sodium bicarbonate and adding the identified amount of sodium bicarbonate to the aqueous solution, wherein the sodium bicarbonate adjusts the pH of the aqueous solution to a desired pH; and providing a buffer to the aqueous solution to generate a slurry. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Ecological Remediation Method for Controlling Sulphur Pollution inBlack and Odorous Sludge of Rivers
20180002209 · 2018-01-04 ·

The Invention discloses an ecological remediation method for controlling sulphur pollution in black and odorous sludge of rivers. Firstly, the sludge from pollution layer of the rivers will be dredged and stacked on the banksides with slope protection built along the outer edge of the sludge storage site; then innocent pretreatment will be conducted for the sludge. Specific steps comprise solarization and ploughing, and mixed ameliorant of certain proportion will be added for modification between first solarization and intermittent ploughing. Then, large emergent aquatic plants will be planted on the stacked sludge after pretreatment. The technical method provided by the Invention may control the release of acid-volatile sulfide in the contaminated sludge on one hand and reduce concentration of volatile organic sulfide in the waters on the other hand. With simple technical process and strong operable technology, the Invention meets the current requirements for controlling sulphur pollution in black and odorous sludge of rivers in China and facilitates realizing the goal of long-term control of sulphur pollution in the deposit of the waters.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR MITIGATING HYDROGEN SULFIDE CONTAMINATION

In some embodiments, the present invention provides a recombinant protein comprising an affinity tag configured to attach the recombinant protein to a silicate surface, fused to a hydrogen sulfide scavenging enzyme.

METHOD FOR RECYCLING OILFIELD AND OTHER WASTEWATER

The present invention pertains to a process for treating waste water from mining. The process involves contacting the mining waste water with an emulsion of a nano scale compound comprising iron, magnesium, or both. Mixing results in a substantially foam-like layer at the surface of the mixture which may be further oxidized to form treated water.

METHOD FOR DRYING RED WATER FROM TRINITROTOLUENE PURIFICATION PROCESS, POWDER AND PACKAGED PRODUCT
20230234860 · 2023-07-27 ·

Drying the effluent from the trinitrotoluene (TNT) purification process, known as red water, is described that uses spray drying in an efficient, improved, and safe manner. The characteristics of the obtained powder, the use thereof, and a packaged product containing said powder are further described. The proposed technique provides the use of lower temperatures at liquid incineration (<300° C. compared to 1000° C.), and also the fact that the main target material is not broken down, thereby not generating toxic fumes, and enabling the dry powder to be used for other applications.

Method and System for Removing Hydrogen Sulfide from Sour Oil and Sour Water

Embodiments of the present invention are generally related to a system and method to remove hydrogen sulfide from sour water and sour oil. Particularly, hydrogen sulfide is removed from sour water and sour oil without the need for special chemicals, such as catalyst chemicals, scavenger chemicals, hydrocarbon sources, or a large-scale facility. The system and method in the present invention is particularly useful in exploratory oil and gas fields, where large facilities to remove hydrogen sulfide may be inaccessible. The present invention addresses the need for safe and cost-effective transport of the deadly neurotoxin. Particular embodiments involve a system and method that can be executed both on a small and large scale to sweeten sour water and sour oil.

METHOD TO TREAT NANO-FILTRATION MEMBRANE RETENTATE FOR REUSE IN FRACTURING AND DRILLING APPLICATIONS

A process of treating nano-filtration membrane retentate comprises introducing seawater comprising a sulfate ion concentration of greater than or equal to 3000 mg/l to the NF membrane to produce a retentate stream and a permeate stream, wherein the retentate stream has a sulfate ion concentration greater than or equal to 10,000 mg/l, and mixing barium additives comprising barium chloride dehydrate (BaCl.sub.2.2H.sub.2O), barium chloride (BaCl.sub.2), or both with the retentate stream to precipitate sulfate from the retentate stream to form barite (BaSO.sub.4) and reduce the sulfate ion concentration, wherein the barium additives are added into the retentate stream at a barium ion concentration of greater than 10,000 mg/l.
