A portion of the wastewater in the chamber is vaporized. Flame is introduced into the chamber and provides for the ignition of a volatile organic compound. The vaporized portion of the wastewater is vented to the atmosphere.

The body (12; 12′) comprises at least one light source (16) configured and controlled for attracting said marine organisms, and an internal cavity (20) having an opening (20′) for fluid communication with at least a portion of the water. The light sources (16) are arranged inside the cavity (20) and arranged and controlled to emit light waves through said opening and into at least a portion of the water. At least one positive electrode (24; 24′; 24″; 32) is arranged in the cavity and electrically connected to a low-voltage power source (26; 27; 30), and at least one negative electrode (15a) is arranged in the water and electrically connected to said power source (26; 27; 30). The invented device generates, by means of electrolysis with the water (15), chlorine gas (21) at or in a region near the at least one positive electrode, and the chlorine gas (21) reacts with water inside the cavity to form hypochloric acid and hydrochloric acid (31).

A water quality monitoring system is provided, including several sensors, several actuators, and an embedded system. The sensors sense environmental parameters and separately output a plurality of sensing signals including the environmental parameters. The actuators change the environmental parameters. The embedded system includes a storage module, a data collection module, a data analysis module, and a control module. The storage module stores a plurality of normal parameter ranges that correspond to the respective environmental parameters. The data collection module is connected to the sensors for receiving the sensing signals. The data analysis module is connected to the storage module and the data collection module to determine whether the sensing signals are abnormal according to the normal parameter ranges and output a determination result. The control module is connected to the data analysis module to control the actuators or output a warning signal according to the determination result.

Biomass treatment method

Provided is a novel carbonization treatment method for carbonizing a biomass material containing a large amount of water at an extremely low temperature, and a method for producing carbonized biomass. A water-containing biomass material is carbonized while maintaining the biomass material under treatment conditions including an oxygen-containing atmosphere and a temperature range of 70° C. or greater and less than 100° C., without a drying step for removing or reducing the water forcibly. At this time, preferably the water content (percentage) of the biomass material at the start of carbonization while maintained under the treatment conditions is within a range of 40 to 80% inclusive, and preferably the biomass material is thus maintained for two weeks or longer. Further, as the biomass material, one material or a mixture of two or more materials selected from waste biomass materials and plant (cultivated crop) biomass materials such as food waste, livestock excrement, agricultural waste, marine waste, and forest waste, can be applied.

The invention relates to a method for reducing emission of ammonia from a livestock housing. The method comprises applying a composition comprising a compound that restrains ammonia volatilization onto freshly excreted manure by an animal in the livestock housing. Because the compound is deposited onto freshly excreted manure, ammonia volatilization is tackled at the source, rather than at a later moment, e.g. in a manure pit, when contact of faeces and urine, and therefore the conversion of urea to ammonia under the influence of urease has already led to volatilization of ammonia.
