Moreover, food compositions comprising a PHA biomass as well as associated methods are also provided.

Method for preparing electron donor biofilm carrier

A method for preparing an electron donor biofilm carrier includes proportioning organic polymer basic raw material and functional modifiers in a range of set-point, mixing the materials, feeding the mixtures into a screw extruder, processing them into a bar-type material, and then cut the bar-type material into granules with the cutting machine, and feeding the granules into the screw extruder, processing them into pipes of various shapes according to the selected screw extruder heads, and then cutting the pipes according to the required size. The electron donor biofilm carrier is mainly used in anaerobic or anoxic suspended carrier biofilm technologies. Electron donors with a standard electrode potential below 100 Mv are used as the functional material for preparation of electron donor biofilm carrier.

BIOREACTOR SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NITRIFICATION AND DENITRIFICATION

A method and system for the nitrification and denitrification of septic effluent, e.g. from a domestic septic tank, is disclosed comprising a variable speed pump system for constant continuous flow and a recycle mechanism to increase efficacy in producing a final denitrified effluent suitable for discharge to ground or surface waters.

Biofilm carriers for use in wastewater treatment

A process for forming a biofilm carrier suitable for use in a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) is presented. A blowing agent is mixed with a plastic material to form a blended material. The blended material is then heated to a temperature where the blowing agent liberates gas by decomposition. The heated blended material is extruded through a die to provide the extrudate with a profile of the biofilm carrier. Advantageously, biofilm carriers produced in this manner have increased effectiveness when compared to conventional biofilm carriers.

Microorganism immobilized carrier

[Problem] A microorganism immobilized carrier is provided that is easy for microorganisms to adhere to, and is able to reduce the manufacturing cost of the microorganism immobilized carrier and the running cost of an apparatus that uses the microorganism immobilized carrier. [Solution] A microorganism immobilized carrier is characterized by including a carbon component and a resin, having a zeta potential of from −25 mV to 0 mV, and containing microorganisms adhered to a surface thereof and/or an interior thereof. The microorganisms are preferably nitrifying bacteria. The carbon component preferably has a particle size of from 1 μm to 1000 μm.

ULTRA-LIGHTWEIGHT FOAMED GLASS AGGREGATES FOR RESILIENCY PLANNING PROJECTS

Systems and methods are disclosed for coastal resiliency amelioration or other flooding amelioration, comprising adding a layer of foamed glass aggregates to a property to raise its elevation, wherein the surcharge on an underlying soil of the property is not increased. In some embodiments, the surcharge on an underlying soil of the property is decreased (e.g., a negative surcharge). Systems and methods are also disclosed for increasing the stormwater storage capacity of a property, comprising, adding a layer of foamed glass aggregates to the property.

A biofilm composite carrier and a preparation method and use thereof are provided. The biofilm composite carrier includes a polyurethane framework, an adhesive and a functional material, wherein the functional material is adhered to the surface and pores of the polyurethane framework through the adhesive, and the functional material is a mixture of zeolite and tourmaline. The biofilm composite carrier is beneficial to the quick start-up and stable operation of the municipal sewage deammonification system under conditions of low temperature and low ammonium.

Recovery system of composite powder carrier in HPB municipal wastewater treatment

A recovery system of composite powder carrier in HPB municipal wastewater treatment includes a biochemical tank and a concentration tank. The composite powder carrier is added to the biochemical tank for biochemically treating on the wastewater. The mixed liquid is then made to flow into the concentration tank. The supernatant obtained after filtration is then discharged. The concentrated sludge is returned to the biochemical tank, and the excess concentrated sludge is transported to a separator. The separator separates the substances with large specific gravity from those having smaller specific gravity, and the substances with large specific gravity are recycled to the biochemical tank for reuse. Matter having smaller specific gravity is discharged. The separator can be used to separate the composite powder carriers for recycling, which improves the utilization rate of the composite powder carriers and reduces the operation cost of the HPB technology for wastewater treatment.

A filter system and filter suitable for water treatment includes a filter having a housing with a water inlet and an outlet, the housing defining a filtration chamber therein. The filtration chamber has filter media therein having a plurality of at least partially porous filtration beads and a pump for pumping water to the inlet. Such a filtration system enables high nutrient removal thus minimising the food source for algae.

PACKED ROTATING BIOLOGICAL CONTACTOR AND METHOD FOR AMMONIA NITROGEN CONVERSION BASED ON THE PACKED ROTATING BIOLOGICAL CONTACTOR

The present disclosure provides a packed rotating biological contactor and a method for ammonia nitrogen conversion based on the packed rotating biological contactor. The packing frame of the packed rotating biological contactor provided in the present disclosure is formed by engaging two meshed disks, the hollow structure thus formed can be filled with packings, increasing the tilling amount of the packings; the selection of packing types can improve the film-forming rate of microorganism and shows a good adsoiption effect on the microorganism, so that the biofilm formed on the surface of packings can resist the impact of water flow and avoid shedding. The selection of disk meshes and packing types also increases the specific surthce area of the packed rotating biological contactor, which can improve the acclimation efficiency of microorganisms and enable the packed rotating biological contactor to carry more microorganisms, thus forming biofilms with excellent performance.
