FLOW EQUALIZATION REACTOR HAVING MULTIPLE WASTEWATER TREATMENT ZONES

A method of treating wastewater is disclosed in which a flow equalization reactor is provided that includes at least one wastewater treatment zone. A first wastewater treatment process is performed in the at least one wastewater treatment zone, which can be switched to a second wastewater treatment process. The flow equalization reactor is designed with a variable liquid depth and volume that can operated as a mixed wastewater zone, an anaerobic reactor zone, an anoxic reactor zone or an aerobic reactor zone. The equalization reactor provides sufficient variable liquid depth and volume above a minimum liquid depth and residual volume to provide the necessary hydraulic flow equalization or surge volume to achieve a relatively constant effluent pumping rate or feed forward flow rate over 24 hours per day, seven days per week into the downstream biological treatment processes, clarifiers, filters, or disinfection units, etc.

SYSTEM FOR CLEANING WASTEWATER

A system for cleaning wastewater, includes: an absorption-biodegradation-denitrification (ABN) reactor, a sequential adsorption reactor, a disinfection reactor, and a sludge anaerobic fermentation reactor. The ABN reactor is an integrated reactor including: a biosorption tank, an intermediate sedimentation tank, a biologically-enhanced degradation tank, a denitrification biofilter, and a secondary sedimentation tank. The pretreated wastewater is introduced into the ABN reactor for removal of chemical oxygen demand, nitrogen and phosphorus; the ABN reactor effluent is introduced into the sequential adsorption reactor for the removal of high-risk pollutants; the sequential adsorption reactor effluent is introduced into the disinfection reactor for the elimination of viruses and other pathogenic microorganisms; the sludge produced by the ABN reactor is introduced into the anaerobic sludge fermentation reactor for alkaline fermentation. The system is effective for removing high-risk pollutants and reducing effluent toxicity, which can be used for the upgrading and reconstruction of the wastewater treatment system.

An organic wastewater treatment device includes a biological treatment tank having a plurality of biological treatment units connected in series, where each biological treatment unit includes a pair of an anoxic tank disposed on an upstream side and an aerobic tank disposed on a downstream side along a flow of the organic wastewater, where a membrane separation device is immersed in activated sludge in the aerobic tank, a sludge return path from the aerobic tank on the most downstream side to the anoxic tank on the most upstream side, and an anaerobic tank for anaerobically treating the organic wastewater, which is then divided and supplied to the anoxic tank of each biological treatment unit. The biological treatment device is adapted to perform a biological treatment of the filtrate and to provide sludge solids. The pre-filtering device is a cake filtration device having a filtration cake wherein the filtration cake is being provided by deposition of solids from the sludge formed in the biological treatment device. A water treatment process employing the system and a method of forming a filter cake are also described.

A treatment process for municipal, commercial, industrial, and institutional fluids containing one or more substances at a first concentration includes a contactor, an aerator, and a separator. The fluid is mixed with a powdered natural lignocellulosic material (“PNLM”), a microbial growth inoculum, and at least a portion of the fluid in the contactor to provide a mixture that includes an established, acclimated microbial growth in the fluid. The mixture is introduced to an aerator where physical binding and chemical bonding of at least some of the one or more substances to the PNLM additionally physiological uptake by microbial growth in a biosludge reduces the concentration of at least some of the one or more substances in the fluid discharged from the aerator to a second concentration. The biosludge is separated to recover at least a portion of the PNLM that is recycled to the contactor.

Growth of nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB) in step ii.) is prevented by periodically subjecting the bacteria in said nitration vessel (133a-133d) to water suppressing growth of nitrite oxidizing bacteria (NOB).
