Processes for remediation of a contaminated material
Methods to remediate a contaminated material are provided. In one embodiment, a biocatalyst that digests hydrocarbon contaminants is activated with a nutrient and the activated biocatalyst is combined with the contaminated material and water to form a mixture. The mixture is incubated for a period of time, and the level of contaminant in the mixture is determined to ascertain whether to incubate further, add additional biocatalyst mix, or provide the remediated material for further processing. In one embodiment, the remediated material is provided for reuse or recycling with a second material, such as a construction aggregate. The method is particularly suited for remediation of drill cuttings, mine tailings, hydrocarbon-contaminated soil, and the like.
Compositions and methods for cleaning contaminated solids and liquids

METHOD FOR DECONTAMINATING ENVIRONMENT POLLUTED WITH PETROLEUM-RELATED MATERIAL, AND MATERIAL USED
Techniques of decontaminating environments polluted with petroleum-related materials through the use of microbes have problems associated with difficulty in construction that requires high-pressure injection deep in the ground, due to low pressure resistance of any of the conventional microbes. In many cases, the survival of the microbes is influenced by temperatures, etc. of the environments and disadvantageously requires extreme caution in conditions of preservation or the environments (temperature, pressure, pH, etc.) for use. A microbe having resistance to even high temperatures or high pressures while having excellent ability to degrade petroleum-related materials has been obtained. As a result, the present invention provides a bioremediation technique, particularly, a bioaugmentation technique, which employs an organism resistant to environmental loads such as temperature, pH, and pressure, is highly useful, and utilizes the excellent ability to degrade petroleum-related materials.
Nanoparticles for the amelioration of oil toxicity and stimulation of bacterial oil degradation
Methods are provided for using a combination of nanomaterials and oil-degrading bacteria to detoxify a multiphasic liquid (e.g., an oil-water mixture) and to ameliorate the toxicity of oil to local organisms, e.g., meiobenthos, in or near the area of the multiphasic liquid. The methods can be utilized for oil recovery and environmental clean-up and detoxification after spills and discharges. Through synergistic combination of the nanomaterials with oil degrading bacteria, methods can ameliorate environmental damage due to the presence of oil in an area through increased activation of the bacteria as well as through removal of the oil.
COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR RECOVERY AND/OR BIOREMEDIATION OF OIL SPILLS AND/OR HYDROCARBONS
A composition and method for recovery and/or bioremediation of oil spills and/or hydrophobic hydrocarbons includes (a) cellulosic material, (b) a charged polymer adsorbed to the cellulosic material, and optionally (c) microorganisms combined with the polymer and/or cellulosic material.
Composition and methods of use
Provided herein are compositions and methods that can remove, metabolize, or degrade a hydrocarbon in an area that is contaminated by hydrocarbons. Methods for bioremediation of an area such as an area of land, a body of water, or a shoreline that are contaminated by a hydrocarbon, such as from a crude oil spill are also described. The compositions and methods described herein can be used on natural flora and fauna as well as manmade materials that are contaminated by a hydrocarbon.

Methods for bioremediation of waters contaminated with hydrocarbons
A method for bioremediation of waters contaminated with hydrocarbons may include: putting the contaminated waters in contact with at least one polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA); and/or allowing microorganisms, present in the contaminated waters and capable of metabolizing the hydrocarbons, to develop and degrade the hydrocarbons under an aerobic condition.
