Particle mixture

The present invention relates to a particle mixture comprising particles of glass frit and particles of a crystalline oxide material, wherein the glass frit comprises silicon oxide (SiO.sub.2), zinc oxide (ZnO) and sulfur (S) and wherein the D90 particle size of the particle mixture is less than 5 microns. The particle mixture may be used to apply an enamel to a substrate. The present invention further relates to the use of the particle mixture to form an enamel on a substrate, to a glass sheet and to an automotive window pane.

A black enamel composition includes a glass frit, a black pigment and an organic vehicle, wherein the glass frit includes 50 to 70 wt % of Bi.sub.2O.sub.3, 7.0 to 10.0 wt % of SiO.sub.2, 6.0 to 8.0 wt % of B.sub.2O.sub.3, 10.0 to 15.0 wt % of ZnO, 1.0 to 2.0 wt % of Al.sub.2O.sub.3, 3.2 to 10.9 wt % of the total of Co.sub.3O.sub.4, NiO.sub.2 and Fe.sub.2O.sub.3, based on the total weight of the glass frit, wherein the black pigment is 3 to 10 wt % relative to the total weight of the glass frit.

A glass sheet includes a tempered mineral glass substrate bearing, on one of its faces, a low-emissivity transparent coating and, on this coating, an enamel layer containing one or more ceramic pigments, the enamel layer covering only a portion of the low-emissivity layer and leaving another part thereof free. At least 50% by weight, preferably at least 80% by weight, and in particular at least 95% by weight of the ceramic pigments are chosen from ceramic pigments that reflect near-infrared radiation (NIR) having a reflectance at 1000 nm, determined according to the standard ASTM E 903, at least equal to 40% and a lightness L* of less than 30. It also relates to a process for manufacturing such a sheet and to an oven or refrigerator door containing such a sheet.

The SiO.sub.2 may be included by about 5 wt % to about 15 wt % based on the total weight of the glass frit. The B.sub.2O.sub.3 may be included by about 5 wt % to about 10 wt % based on the total weight of the glass frit. The group I-based metal oxide may be included by about 3 wt % to about 10 wt % based on the total weight of the glass frit. The ZnO may be included by about 10 wt % to about 25 wt % based on the total weight of the glass frit, and the TiO.sub.2 may be included by about 0.1 wt % to about 5 wt % based on the total weight of the glass frit.

Radiopaque glass and uses thereof

The amorphous, or at least partially crystalline, glass-based joining material is suitable for high-temperature applications, particularly in fuel cells and/or sensors. In addition to SiO.sub.2 and B.sub.2O.sub.3 as glass formers, the joining material similarly contains BaO and CaO, whereby the amount of Al.sub.2O.sub.3 is limited. The joining material has a coefficient of linear thermal expansion of at least 7.0.Math.10.sup.6 K.sup.1 in a range of 20 C. to 300 C. The joining material can be used for joining ferritic high-grade steels and/or chromium-containing alloys and/or ceramics, such as stabilized zirconium oxide and/or aluminium oxide.
