GLAZING COMPRISING A PROTECTIVE UPPER LAYER MADE FROM HYDROGENATED CARBON
A material including a transparent substrate coated with a stack acting on infrared radiation includes at least one functional layer and at least one upper protective layer deposited above at least a part of the functional layer. The upper protective layer is a hydrogenated carbon layer, within which layer the carbon atoms form carbon-carbon and carbon-hydrogen bonds and are essentially in an sp.sup.2 hybridization state.
Method for producing a graphene film
Disclosed herein are methods for forming a graphene film on a substrate, the methods comprising depositing graphene on a surface of the substrate by a first vapor deposition step to form a discontinuous graphene crystal layer; depositing a graphene oxide layer on the discontinuous graphene crystal layer to form a composite layer; and depositing graphene on the composite layer by a second vapor deposition step, wherein the graphene oxide layer is substantially reduced to a graphene layer during the second vapor deposition step. Transparent coated substrates comprising such graphene films are also disclosed herein, wherein the graphene films have a resistance of less than about 10 KΩ/sq.
TRANSPARENT SUBSTRATES COMPRISING THREE-DIMENSIONAL POROUS CONDUCTIVE GRAPHENE FILMS AND METHODS FOR MAKING THE SAME
Disclosed herein are graphene coatings characterized by a porous, three-dimensional, spherical structure having a hollow core, along with methods for forming such graphene coatings on glasses, glass-ceramics, ceramics, and crystalline materials. Such coatings can be further coated with organic or inorganic layers and are useful in chemical and electronic applications.
Interior coatings for glass structures in electronic devices
An electronic device may include electrical components and other components mounted within a housing. The device may have a display on a front face of the device and may have a glass layer that forms part of the housing on a rear face of the device. The glass layer and other glass structures in the electronic device may be provided with coatings. An interior coating on a glass layer may include multiple layers of material such as an adhesion promotion layer, thin-film layers of materials such as silicon, niobium oxide and other metal oxides, and metals to help adjust the appearance of the coating. A metal layer may be formed on top of the coating to serve as an environmental protection layer and opacity enhancement layer. In some configurations, the coating may include four layers.
Transparent photochromic device
The present invention relates to a metal hydride device having a variable transparency, comprising a substrate, at least one layer including a photochromic yttrium hydride having a chosen band gap, and a capping layer at least partially positioned on the opposite side of the photochromic yttrium hydride layer from the substrate, said capping layer being essentially impermeable to hydrogen and oxygen.
OPTICAL ELEMENT WITH HEATER LAYER
Methods and systems for providing de-icing and/or de-fogging of an optical element include providing a resistive layer on an optically transparent material. In one embodiment, an optical system includes an optical device having a moldable optical material having a first surface, a resistive transparent material deposited in a layer on the first surface, and a conductive pad in electrical contact with the resistive transparent material. A method can include providing a moldable optical material having a first surface, a resistive transparent material deposited in a layer on the first surface, and a conductive pad in electrical contact with the resistive transparent material, and providing electrical energy to the conductive pad to heat the resistive transparent material.
COMPOSITE GLASS COMPOSITION FOR WASHING AND CLEANING AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING COMPOSITE GLASS POWDER USING THE SAME
Disclosed are a composite glass composition for washing and cleaning and a method for producing composite glass powder using the same, in which a silicate-based glass composition containing an alkali oxide for activating water into alkaline water and a bleaching agent having bleaching performance are mixed or coated. Accordingly, since the silicate-based glass composition containing an alkali oxide can ionize water in place of a surfactant contained in existing synthetic detergents, washing and cleaning capacity equivalent to or greater than existing synthetic detergents can be secured with alkaline water ionized from water.
Graphene Based Phobic Coating on Carbon
Disclosed herein is method for fabricating a graphene layer on a non-graphene carbon layer including steps of cleaning and seeding a substrate, depositing a crystalline diamond on the substrate, sputtering an aluminum layer on the crystalline diamond, where the aluminum layer is greater than 5 nanometers and less than 50 nanometers; and treating a surface of the aluminum layer with an ion beam resulting in a graphene layer on the crystalline diamond.
Containers and methods for improved mechanical strength
Containers are provided that include a body structure having a top end that defines an opening, a sealed base end, and a sidewall structure extending between the top and base ends, in which the sidewall structure has an interior surface and an exterior surface, the interior surface defining an interior space, and a protective coating that includes a diamond-like carbon on at least a portion of the exterior surface of the sidewall structure. Methods for enhancing the mechanical strength of containers are also provided.
