CURABLE COMPOSITIONS COMPRISING MULTISTAGE POLYMERS
The present invention relates to curable compositions which comprise (meth)acrylic monomers, ethylenically unsaturated oligomers and a specific multistage polymer additive. The additive is used as a processing aid to reduce cure shrinkage and reduce or prevent the formation of cracks during the polymerization of the composition.
PRECAST CONCRETE MOLDED BODY
A precast concrete molded body is provided, which is a cured product of a concrete composition. The concrete composition comprises: a microcapsule; cement; and at least one type of aggregate. The microcapsule is provided with a core-shell structure having i) a core made of a water repellent organosilicon material selected from the group consisting of organosilanes, organosilane partial condensation products, and branched siloxane resins, and ii) a shell made of a silicon-based network polymer containing silica units. The concrete composition contains 0.01 to less than 0.5 parts by weight of microcapsules per 100 parts by weight of cement. Thereby, a precast concrete molded body can be provided, having high strength, as well as at least one of the following properties: air content stability, substance penetration prevention, and freeze-thaw resistance.
CATIONIC LATEX MODIFIED HYDROCARBON BINDER EMULSIONS AND THEIR USE IN THE PREPARATION OF BITUMINOUS PRODUCTS
A process for preparing a cationic latex modified hydrocarbon binder emulsion comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a cationic copolymer latex emulsion by an emulsion polymerisation of polymerizable monomers, said polymerizable monomers comprising A—one or more non-ionic acrylate ester and/or methacrylate ester monomer(s), and B—optionally styrene monomer and/or one or more non-ionic styrene derivative monomer(s), C—optionally one or more cross-linking monomer(s) having two or more ethylenically unsaturated (C═C) double bonds susceptible to free radical copolymerisation, D—optionally one or more epoxy functional monomer(s) having one C═C double bond susceptible to free radical copolymerisation and one epoxide functional group, wherein said polymerizable monomers do not comprise any aliphatic conjugated diene monomer, in presence of a cationic stabilizing surfactant, and (b) adding the cationic copolymer latex emulsion resulting from step (a) to a cationic hydrocarbon binder emulsion, or (b′) adding the cationic copolymer latex emulsion resulting from step (a) to an emulsifier solution, said emulsifier solution comprising water, one or more cationic surfactant(s), one or more acid(s) and optionally additives to provide a mixture, and adding the resulting mixture to hydrocarbon binder; to form a cationic latex modified hydrocarbon binder emulsion.
Low Dust Additives For Joint Compounds And Joint Compounds Thereof
The present invention relates generally to wall repair compounds such as joint compounds, spackling compounds, and the like used to repair imperfections in walls or fill joints between adjacent wallboard panels. Particularly, the present invention relates to such a wall repair compound comprising a dust reduction additive that reduces the quantity of airborne dust generated when the hardened compound is sanded and also exhibits improved adhesive properties. The dust reduction additive also imparts adhesion to the wall repair compounds to which it is added, for example to a joint compound. The dust reduction additive comprises micro-crystalline wax or micro-crystalline wax emulsion.
Wellbore cement having polymer capsule shells
Capsules with a cement additive covered by a polymeric outer shell are added to wellbore cement. The additive is released from the shells by osmosis or shell ruptures. Capillary forces draw the additive into micro-annuli or cracks present in the cement, where the additive seals the micro-annuli and cracks to define a self-sealing material. The empty shells remain in the cement and act as an additive that modifies cement elasticity. The capsules are formed by combining immiscible liquids, where one of the liquids contains a signaling substance, and each of the liquids contains a reagent. When combined, the liquids segregate into a dispersed phase and a continuous phase, with the dispersed phase having the signaling agent. The reagents react at interfaces between dispersed and continuous phases and form polymer layers encapsulating the signaling agent to form the capsules. Adjusting relative concentrations of the reagents varies membrane strength and permeability.
SHRINKAGE REDUCER FOR MINERAL BINDER COMPOSITION AND ITS USE
An additive, in particular a shrinkage reducing agent, for mineral binder compositions including at least one super absorbant polymer SAP and at least one defoamer D. Further, a mineral binder composition including the additive, processes and methods for the mixing thereof, and to hardened articles obtainable therefrom.
