Magnesium aluminate spinel reinforced magnesium oxide-based foam ceramic filter synthesized in situ from magnesium oxide whisker, and preparation method therefor

The present invention provides A magnesium oxide whisker in-situ formed MA spinel-reinforced magnesium oxide-based ceramic foam filter and a method for preparing the same. The method comprising: 1) preparing a ceramic slurry having a solid content of 60%-70% by dosing 15%-25% by mass of a nanometer alumina sol, 0.8%-1.5% by mass of a rheological agent, and the balance magnesium oxide ceramic powder comprising magnesium oxide whiskers, and then adding deionized water and ball milling to mix until uniform, and then vacuum degassing the mixture; 2) soaking a polyurethane foam template into the ceramic slurry, squeezing by a roller press the polyurethane foam template to remove redundant slurry therein to make a biscuit, and drying the biscuit by heating it to 80° C.-1200° C.; 3) putting the dried biscuit into a sintering furnace, elevating the temperature to 1400° C.-1600° C. and performing a high temperature sintering, cooling to the room temperature with the furnace to obtain the magnesium oxide-based ceramic foam filter.

Crucible structure and method for forming isolating layer of crucible

A method for forming an isolating layer of a crucible includes placing a round crucible sideways with a bottom surface of an inside thereof perpendicular to a horizontal plane, and then performing a plurality of spraying processes to form the isolating layer on the bottom surface and a wall surface of the round crucible. Each spraying process includes spraying a slurry on the bottom surface; using an optical positioner to set a spraying range the same as one of a plurality of partial areas divided from the wall surface; aligning one of the plurality of partial areas with the spraying range; fixing the round crucible and spraying the slurry in the spraying range; stopping the spraying; and rotating the round crucible to move another partial area to the spraying range. Then, the steps are repeated until the spraying of all the partial areas is completed.

Casting of non-ferrous metals, especially aluminum and magnesium, can have problems with erosion, in which molten metal contacts the mold or core surfaces during the pouring process, resulting in the sand being dislodged. Binder systems addressing this issue often use bisphenol F epoxy resin. A binder system is provided in which a major portion of the epoxy resin component is a bisphenol epoxy resin that has been modified by incorporating oxazolidone rings into an epoxy backbone of the bisphenol epoxy resin, especially a bisphenol A epoxy resin. The modification is preferably achieved by reacting the diglycidyl ether of the bisphenol with a methylene diphenyl diisocyanate.

New copper-coated titanium diboride electrodes are disclosed. The copper-coated titanium diboride electrodes may be used in an aluminum electrolysis cell. In one embodiment, a method includes installing the copper-coated titanium diboride electrode in the aluminum electrolysis cell and operating the aluminum electrolysis cell. During start-up, the aluminum electrolysis cell may be preheated and a bath may be formed from a molten electrolyte. Alumina (Al.sub.2O.sub.3) may in the added to the bath and reduced to aluminum metal. At least some of the copper film of the copper-coated titanium diboride electrode may be replaced by an aluminum film, thereby forming an aluminum-wetted titanium diboride electrode.
