CEMENTITIOUS CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL CONTAINING MAGNESIUM OXYCHLORIDE CRYSTALS
The present invention generally relates to cementitious material that is a precursor of a magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC) and comprises treated carbon fibers comprising a dispersing agent at least partially coating the carbon fibers and processes for the preparation thereof. The present invention is also related to cementitious material that is a precursor of a magnesium oxychloride cement (MOC) and comprises siliconate and processes for the preparation thereof. The present invention further relates to cementitious material (e.g., pourable, extrudable, moldable and formable cementitious material) and cementitious construction material (e.g., boards, structural laminates, etc.) formed from curing the cementitious material.
Low-density high-strength concrete and related methods
A low-density, high-strength concrete composition that is lightweight and self-compacting or non-self-compacting, with a low weight-fraction of aggregate to total dry raw materials, and a highly-homogenous distribution of a non-absorptive and closed-cell lightweight aggregate such as glass microspheres or copolymer polymer beads or a combination thereof, and the steps of providing the composition or components. Lightweight concretes formed therefrom have low density, high strength-to-weight ratios, and high R-value. The concrete has strength similar to that ordinarily found in structural lightweight concrete but at a lower density, such as an oven-dried density as low as 40 lbs./cu.ft. Such strength-to-density ratios range approximately from above 30 cu.ft/sq.in. to above 110 cu.ft/sq.in., with a 28-day compressive strength ranging from about 3400 to 8000 psi.
HIGH TEMPERATURE SAG RESISTANT GYPSUM PANEL
A fire-resistant gypsum panel comprises: a gypsum core layer comprising set gypsum and a high temperature sag-resistant material including mineral wool in an amount between 0.2% and 3.0% by weight of gypsum.
Light Weight Gypsum Board
This invention provides low dust low density gypsum wallboard products having high total core void volumes, corresponding to low densities in the range of about 10 to 30 pcf. The wallboards have a set gypsum core formed between two substantially parallel cover sheets, the set gypsum core preferably having a total void volume from about 80% to about 92%, and made from a slurry including stucco, pregelatinized starch, and a naphthalenesulfonate dispersant. The combination of the pregelatinized starch and the naphthalenesulfonate dispersant also provides a glue-like effect in binding the set gypsum crystals together. The wallboard formulation, along with small air bubble voids (and water voids) provides dust control during cutting, sawing, routing, snapping, nailing or screwing down, or drilling of the gypsum-containing products. This invention also provides a method of making the low dust low density gypsum products including the introduction of soap foam in an amount sufficient to form a total void volume, including air voids, preferably from about 80% to about 92% in the set gypsum core, corresponding to a set gypsum core density from about 10 pcf to about 30 pcf. The wallboards produced by the method generate significantly less dust during working.
SULFATE-POOR CALCIUM-CONTAINING POROUS MINERAL MATERIALS
The present invention relates to calcium-containing, porous, mineral materials having a sulfate content of not more than 1.5% by weight and a biopolymer content in the range of 0.001 to 5.00% by weight, each relative to the total weight of the materials, a method for producing these materials with the aid of biopolymers as stabilizers and the use of biopolymers for producing sulfate-poor calcium-containing, porous, mineral materials.
Optimized bulk blend formulation based on compressive strength requirements
A method of designing a cement composition may include: minimizing an objective function subject to a plurality of constraints to produce a cement composition including at least one cement component and water; and preparing the cement composition.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COMPOSITE FIRE RESISTANT BUILDING MATERIAL
A system and method, according to one or more exemplary embodiments, for a fireproof, soundproof, lightweight cement and wood composite wall system that is very inexpensive, outlasts wood frame homes, and replaces many building materials in one installation whereby the composite wall system may be formed from wood shavings, cement, calcium chloride, and water mixed at high speed for air entrainment.
Potting Paste for Honeycomb Reinforcement
The invention relates to a potting paste composition for honeycomb reinforcement having improved fire retardancy characteristics. The potting paste composition comprises (a) a curable polymer; (b) a curing agent for the curable polymer; (c) a fire retardant comprising an ammonium polyphosphate in combination with an ingredient selected from the group consisting of metal hydroxides, expandable graphites, liquid phosphate esters, phosphorous organic compounds or salts thereof, and zeolites; and(d) a filler selected from the group consisting of polymeric microspheres, hollow glass microspheres, and thixotropic fillers; wherein the potting paste has an uncured density determined by the method according to EN ISO 1183 of not more than 0.7100 g/cm.sup.3, preferably of at most 0.680 g/cm.sup.3, more preferably of at most 0.673 g/cm.sup.3, still more preferably of at most 0.660 g/cm.sup.3, even more preferably of at most 0.658 g/cm.sup.3, yet more preferably of at most 0.653 g/cm.sup.3 and in particular of at most 0.620 g/cm.sup.3; and wherein the total content of the fire retardant is at least 5.0 wt.-%, preferably at least 10 wt.-%, more preferably at least 15 wt.-%, relative to the total weight of the potting paste composition.
