A dielectric ceramic composition including a first component and a second component. The first component comprises an oxide of Ca of 0.00 mol % to 35.85 mol % an oxide of Sr of 0.00 mol % to 47.12 mol %, an oxide of Ba of 0.00 mol % to 51.22 mol %, an oxide of Ti of 0.00 mol % to 17.36 mol %, an oxide of Zr of 0.00 mol % to 17.36 mol %, an oxide of Sn of 0.00 mol % to 2.60 mol %, an oxide of Nb of 0.00 mol % to 35.32 mol %, an oxide of Ta of 0.00 mol % to 35.32 mol %, and an oxide of V of 0.00 mol % to 2.65 mol %. The second component includes (by mass) at least (a) an oxide of Mn of 0.005% to 3.500% and (b) one or both of an oxide of Cu of 0.080% to 20.000% and an oxide of Ru of 0.300% to 45.000%.

SINTERED CERAMIC BODIES AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
In one aspect, sintered ceramic bodies are described herein which, in some embodiments, demonstrate improved resistance to wear and enhanced cutting lifetimes. For example, a sintered ceramic body comprises tungsten carbide (WC) in an amount of 40-95 weight percent, alumina in an amount of 5-30 weight percent and ditungsten carbide (W.sub.2C) in an amount of at least 1 weight percent.
Refractory object, glass overflow forming block, and process of forming and using the refractory object
A refractory object can include at least 10 wt % Al.sub.2O.sub.3. Further, the refractory object may contain less than approximately 6 wt % SiO.sub.2 or may include a dopant that includes an oxide of Ti, Mg, Ta, Nb, or any combination thereof. In an embodiment, at least approximately 1% of the Al.sub.2O.sub.3 in the refractory object can be provided as reactive Al.sub.2O.sub.3. In another embodiment, the refractory object may have a density of at least approximately 3.55 g/cc, a corrosion rate of no greater than approximately 2.69 mm/year, or any combination of the foregoing. In a particular embodiment, the refractory object can be used to form an Al—Si—Mg glass sheet. In an embodiment, the refractory object may be formed by a process using a compound of Ti, Mg, Ta, Nb, or any combination thereof.
Method of treating a preceramic material
A method of treating a preceramic material includes providing a preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane material that includes a moiety Si—O-M, where Si is silicon, O is oxygen and M is at least one metal that includes at least one transition metal, and thermally converting the preceramic polycarbosilane or polycarbosiloxane that includes the moiety Si—O-M material into a ceramic material.
Cutting tool and method for manufacturing the same
A cutting tool includes a base material, and a coating film covering the base material in contact with the base material. The base material is a cubic boron nitride sintered material. The coating film is a ceramic. An amount of oxygen in the coating film is less than or equal to 0.040 mass percent.
CERAMIC HONEYCOMB BODIES HAVING HIGH-STRENGTH SKIN AND MANUFACTURING METHODS THEREOF
Methods of manufacturing a ceramic honeycomb body having a honeycomb structure with a matrix of intersecting walls, and a skin disposed on an outer peripheral portion of the matrix where the skin has a first average porosity and the interior portion of the matrix has a second average porosity that is greater than the first average porosity. The methods include coating at least the skin with a fluid formulation containing a sintering aid and subsequently firing the honeycomb structure. In certain embodiments, a glass layer is formed in the skin or in regions of the walls directly adjacent to the skin. In certain embodiments, the coating is applied to a green honeycomb structure, and in other embodiments the coating is applied to a ceramic honeycomb structure.
