Method for Manufacturing Silicon Nitride Substrate
The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a silicon nitride substrate and, more specifically, comprises the steps of: forming a slurry by mixing silicon nitride powder, a ceramic additive, and a solvent; molding the slurry to form sheets; sandwiching at least one of the sheets between a lower plate and an upper plate to form a stacked structure; degreasing the stacked structure; and sintering the stacked structure. At least one of the lower plate and the upper plate comprises a plurality of protrusions provided on one surface thereof, and the protrusions extend in parallel to each other in one direction.
Method for joining substrates
The invention relates to a method of joining substrates. It is the object of the invention in this respect to join substrates of substrate materials together without having to exert an increased effort for a coating with additional coating processes to be carried out and to be able to achieve a good quality of the join connection in so doing. In the method in accordance with the invention a pretreatment of at least one join surface of a substrate to be joined is carried out in low pressure oxygen plasma prior to the actual joining. On the joining, a contact force acts on the substrates to be joined in the range 2 kPa to 5 MPa and in this process a heat treatment is carried out at an elevated temperature of at least 100° C. and at under pressure conditions of a maximum of 10 mbar, preferably <10.sup.−3 mbar.
Method to produce a protective surface layer having a predetermined topography on a ceramic matrix composite
A method to produce a protective surface layer having a predetermined topography on a ceramic matrix composite is described. The method includes applying a slurry layer to a surface of a fiber preform, and drying the slurry layer to form a particulate layer. A surface of the particulate layer is machined to improve surface smoothness and to form a machined surface. A ceramic tape is attached to the machined surface, and a tool comprising one or more features to be imprinted is placed on the ceramic tape, thereby forming a compression assembly. Heat and pressure are applied to the compression assembly to consolidate and bond the ceramic tape to the machined surface, while the one or more features of the tool are imprinted. Thus, a protective surface layer having a predetermined topography is formed.
Metal-on-ceramic substrates
A metal-on-ceramic substrate comprises a ceramic layer, a first metal layer, and a bonding layer joining the ceramic layer to the first metal layer. The bonding layer includes thermoplastic polyimide adhesive that contains thermally conductive particles. This permits the substrate to withstand most common die attach operations, reduces residual stress in the substrate, and simplifies manufacturing processes.
METHOD TO PRODUCE A PROTECTIVE SURFACE LAYER HAVING A PREDETERMINED TOPOGRAPHY ON A CERAMIC MATRIX COMPOSITE
A method to produce a protective surface layer having a predetermined topography on a ceramic matrix composite is described. The method includes applying a slurry layer to a surface of a fiber preform, and drying the slurry layer to form a particulate layer. A surface of the particulate layer is machined to improve surface smoothness and to form a machined surface. A ceramic tape is attached to the machined surface, and a tool comprising one or more features to be imprinted is placed on the ceramic tape, thereby forming a compression assembly. Heat and pressure are applied to the compression assembly to consolidate and bond the ceramic tape to the machined surface, while the one or more features of the tool are imprinted. Thus, a protective surface layer having a predetermined topography is formed.

A multilayer ceramic electronic component includes a component body, a first external electrode provided on a first end surface of the component body, and a second external electrode provided on a second end surface of the component body. An absolute value of a difference between a surface roughness of a first side surface and a surface roughness of a second side surface of the component body is smaller than an absolute value of a difference between a surface roughness of a first main surface and a surface roughness of a second main surface.

A multilayer ceramic substrate that includes a laminate having stacked ceramic layers formed of a ceramic material containing a main component, containing 48 to 75% by weight of Si, 20 to 40% by weight of Ba, and 10 to 40% by weight of Al, and an auxiliary component containing at least 2.5 to 20 parts by weight of Mn with respect to 100 parts by weight of the main component, and in the laminate, glass ceramic layers in which the entire or a portion of the thickness thereof exists within 100 m inside of the laminate as measured from opposed principal surfaces are further stacked.

A multilayer ceramic substrate that includes a laminate having stacked ceramic layers formed of a ceramic material containing a main component, containing 48 to 75% by weight of Si, 20 to 40% by weight of Ba, and 10 to 40% by weight of Al, and an auxiliary component containing at least 2.5 to 20 parts by weight of Mn with respect to 100 parts by weight of the main component, and in the laminate, glass ceramic layers in which the entire or a portion of the thickness thereof exists within 100 m inside of the laminate as measured from opposed principal surfaces are further stacked.

A metal-on-ceramic substrate comprises a ceramic layer, a first metal layer, and a bonding layer joining the ceramic layer to the first metal layer. A method for manufacturing a liquid ejecting head including a laminate formed of a flow path substrate having a flow path communicating with nozzle openings that eject a liquid, a first electrode, a piezoelectric layer, and a second electrode, the method including stacking the first electrode, the piezoelectric material, the second electrode, and a reinforcing member on top of one another to form a laminate; heating the laminate to form a piezoelectric layer made of the piezoelectric material; bonding the laminate to the flow path substrate on a first electrode side; and removing the reinforcing member.
