A method of processing exhaust gas containing CO.sub.2, such as exhaust gas from a cement production plant, includes burning fuel in the combustion reactor with the O.sub.2 content of the exhaust gas being used as an oxidizing agent, controlling the combustion in the combustion reactor so that the exhaust gas from the combustion reactor contains less than 10 vol.-% of oxygen and at least 80 vol.-% of a mixture of CO and CO.sub.2, and feeding the exhaust gas from the combustion reactor into a conversion reactor, in which the CO.sub.2 and optionally the CO contained in the exhaust gas is converted into a hydrocarbon fuel.

An organic sludge treatment device includes: a fractionation device 7 that fractionates a preheated raw material R2 from a preheater cyclone 4C excluding a bottommost cyclone of a cement burning device 1; a mixing device 8 that mixes an organic sludge S with the fractionated preheated raw material, and that dries the organic sludge using sensible heat of the preheated raw material; and a supply device (mixture chute 12, double-flap damper 13, shut damper 14) that supplies a mixture M from the mixing device to a calciner furnace 5 of the cement burning device or to a duct disposed between a kiln inlet portion of a cement kiln 2 and the calciner furnace. The treatment device may be provided with an introduction device for introducing an exhaust gas G2 including dust, odor and water vapor from the mixing device to a gas outlet of a bottommost cyclone 4A of the cement burning device.

In the method, an amount of thermal energy is imparted to a stream of fluidic medium directed along a flow path formed inside the casing between the inlet and the exit by virtue of a series of energy transformations occurring when said stream of fluidic medium passes through stationary and rotating components of said rotary apparatus, respectively. The method further comprises: integration of said at least one rotary apparatus into a heat-consuming process facility configured as a refining and/or petrochemical facility and further configured to carry out heat-consuming process or processes related to refining of oil and/or producing petrochemicals at temperatures essentially equal to or exceeding 500 degrees Celsius (° C.), and conducting an amount of input energy into the at least one rotary apparatus integrated into the heat-consuming process facility, the input energy comprises electrical energy. A method for processing material that contains cement rock may involve comminuting the material in a first comminuting device, feeding the material to a reactor in which the material is mixed with an aqueous liquid and CO.sub.2 and in which a mixing movement of the material is generated, and removing the material from the reactor and subdividing the material into at least two fractions by way of a classifying device. The temperature and the pressure in the reactor are maintained such that the pressure exceeds atmospheric pressure and such that the temperature is greater than 100° C. The method may further involve removing a withdrawal stream of the aqueous liquid from the reactor and separating and discharging suspended particles of the material from the withdrawal stream.
