20180009718 · 2018-01-11 ·

A method of making a ceramic matrix composites (CMC) having superior properties at high temperatures. The CMC can include a sol gel mixture mixed or blended metal oxide particles. The sol-gel mixture can be an aqueous colloidal suspension of a metal oxide, preferably from about 10 wt % to about 25 wt % of the metal oxide, containing a metal oxide such as alumina (Al.sub.2O.sub.3), silica (SiO.sub.2) or alumina-coated silica. The mixture can be infiltrated into a ceramic fiber, gelled, dried and sintered to form the CMC of the present teachings.

Wavelength converter and method for producing thereof, and light emitting device using the wavelength converter

A wavelength converter 100 includes: a first phosphor 1 composed of an inorganic phosphor activated by Ce.sup.3+; and a second phosphor 2 composed of an inorganic phosphor activated by Ce.sup.3+ and different from the first phosphor. At least one of the first phosphor and the second phosphor is particulate. The first phosphor and the second phosphor are bonded to each other by at least one of a chemical reaction in a contact portion between the compound that constitutes the first phosphor and a compound that constitutes the second phosphor and of adhesion between the compound that constitutes the first phosphor and the compound that constitutes the second phosphor.

Reactive media

Various embodiments of the present invention relate to reactive media including calcium. A reactive media includes a vitrified calcium silicate comprising reactive calcium. Various embodiments of the reactive media described herein are useful for removal of anionic impurities such as phosphate from water.
