A system and a method are provided for inhibiting pyrrhotite-caused damage to concrete structures. The system includes at least one concrete structure, a quantity of migratory corrosion-inhibiting solution, a quantity of concrete reinforcing solution, and a water sealing substance. The concrete structure can be any structure where the concrete aggregate contains pyrrhotite. The quantity of migratory corrosion-inhibiting solution is applied to the concrete structure to prevent further oxidation of pyrrhotite within the concrete structure. The quantity of concrete reinforcing solution is applied to the concrete structure to lower the porosity of the concrete structure and strengthen the overall integrity of the concrete structure. The water sealing substance is applied to the concrete structure to repel water from the concrete structure preventing any further chemical reactions with the pyrrhotite.

COMPOSITE ARCHITECTURAL ULTRA-HIGH PERFORMANCE PORCELAIN CONCRETE (CA-UHPPC) PANELS AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME
20210070658 · 2021-03-11 · ·

A composite ultra-high performance porcelain concrete includes cement in an amount between 500 and 680 kg/m.sup.3; and porcelain sand in an amount between 500 and 1200 kg/m.sup.3. The porcelain sand replaces a portion of cement which would normally be needed, thereby reducing environmental impact of the cement, and also creating a beneficial use for waste porcelain source material. The disclosure also relates to a method for producing thin-walled composites CA-UHPPC facade panels and elements for building envelopes.

Process for manufacturing a composite part

A process for manufacturing a composite part includes introducing an adhesion promoter into the pores of a fibrous preform formed by threads covered with a coating having OH groups on its surface, the adhesion promoter including an electron-withdrawing group G1 that is reactive according to a reaction of substitution or of nucleophilic addition with the OH groups, and a reactive group G2; grafting the adhesion promoter to the surface of the coating by a reaction of substitution or nucleophilic addition of the OH groups on the group G1; introducing a ceramic precursor resin into the pores of the fibrous preform; polymerizing the resin introduced and bonding the grafted adhesion promoter to the resin by chemical reaction between these two compounds at the level of the group G2, and forming a ceramic matrix phase in the pores of the fibrous preform by pyrolysis of the polymerized resin.

Hydrophobic finish compositions with extended flow time retention and building products made thereof

Disclosed are hydrophobic finish compositions and cementitious articles made with the hydrophobic finish compositions. In some embodiments, the article is a waterproof gypsum panel surface reinforced with inorganic mineral fibers that face a flexible and hydrophobic cementitious finish possessing beneficial waterproofing properties. These waterproof gypsum panels have many uses, such as, tile backer board in wet or dry areas of buildings, exterior weather barrier panel for use as exterior sheathing, interior wall and ceiling, and roof cover board having water durability and low surface absorption. The flexible and hydrophobic cementitious finish can include fly ash, film-forming polymer, preferably silane compound (e.g., alkyl alkoxysilane), an extended flow time retention agent including either one or more carboxylic acids, salts of carboxylic acids, or mixtures thereof, and other optional additives. Preferably a pre-coated non-woven glass fiber mat is employed to provide the inorganic mineral fibers for the surface reinforcement.
