Electrochemical Synthesis of Cementitious Compounds
In some aspects, the present disclosure pertains to methods for the electrochemical production of calcium silicate compounds in an electrochemical cell that comprises (a) a Ca-based electrode that comprises calcium metal or an inorganic calcium material, (b) an SiO.sub.x-based electrode that comprises a SiO.sub.x material, where x ranges from 1 to 2, and (c) a liquid electrolyte disposed between the Ca-based electrode and the SiO.sub.x-based electrode. In these methods, the electrochemical cell is operated under conditions such that calcium cations are produced at the Ca-based electrode and one or more calcium silicate (Ca—Si-oxide) compounds are produced at the SiO.sub.x-based electrode. In other aspects, the present disclosure pertains to systems for the electrochemical production of calcium silicate compounds.

Sulfoaluminate clinker based hydraulic binder and use thereof in a process for treating polluted soils
A hydraulic binder based on a sulfoaluminate clinker including the mineralogical phases ye'elimite C.sub.4A.sub.3$, mayenite C.sub.12A.sub.7, free lime CaO, and optionally belite C2S, characterized in that, in the clinker, the mineralogical phases are 20% to 50% by weight of ye'elimite C4A3$ phase, 5% to 80% by weight of mayenite C.sub.12A.sub.7 phase, and 1% to 5% by weight of free lime CaO, the weight ratio between the mayenite C.sub.12A.sub.7 and ye'elimite C.sub.4A.sub.3$ phases being between 0.1 and 10. The binder can be used to treat polluted soils, in particular soils with a leachable fraction greater than 0.4% that contains predominantly anions and/or heavy metal cations by mixing the soil with the hydraulic binder, in soil/binder weight proportions of between 1 and 40 parts of binder for 100 parts of soil. It makes it possible to stabilize soils which are polluted or to stabilize soils before dumping.

Mineral additives and production of lightweight composite materials from carbonatable calcium silicate
The invention provides novel aerated composite materials made from a carbonatable calcium silicate composition, and formulations and methods of manufacture and use thereof, in particular, the use of novel additive mineral compositions in the form of magnesium, magnesium salts or magnesium oxides, to improve physical chemical properties of low density concrete materials. The low density, aerated material is comprised of calcium carbonate (CaCO.sub.3) and silica (SiO.sub.2), as cured products of carbonatable calcium silicate compositions.
