DITHIOPHOSPHATE DERIVATIVES AS HYDROGEN SULFIDE RELEASE CHEMICALS FOR IMPROVING PLANT GROWTH AND CROP YIELD
The invention provides a compound of formula (I): wherein X, Y Z, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, and X.sup.+ have any of the values described in the specification. The compounds are useful to increase plant growth and/or to increase harvest yield.
##STR00001##
PHOSPHORYL-CHOLINE-GROUP-CONTAINING VINYL MONOMER
The invention is a phosphorylcholine group-containing vinyl monomer represented by the following formula (1):
##STR00001##
in the formula (1) R represents an alkylene group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and n represents an integer of 1 to 6.
The invention provides a phosphorylcholine group-containing vinyl monomer useful as a raw material for a hydrogel having a lowered water content while maintaining surface hydrophilicity.
CANCER CELL MODULATORS
Disclosed are cancer cell- and proliferative cell-selective small molecule compounds that modulate certain cancer cell- or proliferative cell-specific metabolic enzymes or receptors, and methods of their use to treat cancer and other proliferative disorders.
SELECTIVE DETECTION OF BED BUGS
A device, system, and method of controlling pests are disclosed. A pest control device includes a sensor having a sensor cell and a controller. A surface of the sensor cell is coated with an agent that reacts with a targeted biochemical analyte secreted by pests. The controller is coupled to the sensor and is configured to receive sensor data from the sensor cell indicative of a rate of change in sensor mass detected on the surface of the sensor cell, determine whether the rate of change in the sensor mass based on the received sensor data exceeds a predefined threshold rate, and transmit a pest detection alert notification to a server in response to a determination that the rate of change exceeds the predetermined threshold rate.
ACCESS TO CHIRAL BISPHENOL (BPOL) LIGANDS THROUGH DESYMMETRIZING ASYMMETRIC ORTHO-SELECTIVE MONO-HALOGENATION
The subject invention pertains to a method of halogenating phenols, yielding a range of halogenated phenols with enantiomeric ratio of up to 99.5:0.5. In certain embodiments, the subject invention pertains to a method of asymmetric halogenation of bisphenol, yielding a range of chiral bisphenol ligands. The novel chiral bisphenols are potent privileged catalyst cores that can be applied to the preparation of ligands for various catalytic asymmetric reactions. The catalyst library can easily be accessed because late-stage modification of the scaffold can readily be executed through cross-coupling of the halogen handles on the bisphenols.
