Method for concentrating rubber emulsion and product thereof
A method for concentrating rubber emulsion and a product prepared by the method are provided, the method includes: a concentrated latex is obtained by separating a superabsorbent resin added in advance into a rubber emulsion with a solid content of 0.01-70% after stirring and concentrating the resin-added rubber emulsion. The method requires simple equipment and consumes less energy, and the prepared polymer emulsion has a solid content up to 76%; the superabsorbent resin adopted herein is reusable after drying, which therefore effectively reduces the production cost; natural latex concentrated by the method has rather high yields of dry rubber and little wastewater production; products prepared from the concentrated natural latex have excellent mechanical property, aging resistance and adhesive property; and concentrating natural latex according to this method does not require advance agglomeration, which reduces the production procedures and improves the production efficiency significantly.

Low-VOC, low cost coalescent for certain aqueous polymeric dispersions
A coalescent consisting essentially of a residue from a process for forming propyleneglycol phenyl ether, the coalescent consisting essentially of 65%-75% by weight, based on the weight of the residue, dipropyleneglycol phenyl ether, 8%-10% by weight, based on the weight of the coalescent, monopropyleneglycol phenyl ether, 4%-6% by weight, based on the weight of the coalescent, tripropyleneglycol phenyl ether, and 0.1%-10% by weight, based on the weight of the coalescent, alkalinity (reported as NaOH) is provided. Also provided is a method for forming certain low-VOC, low cost, coalesced aqueous polymeric dispersions including, as copolymerized units, from 70% to 100% by weight, based on the solids weight of the aqueous polymeric dispersion, vinyl acetate monomer and an aqueous coating composition including the coalesced aqueous polymeric dispersion.
Agglomerated rubber particles and method of preparing
A synthetic latex composition, comprising rubber particles, natural surfactants, a novel acid stable surfactant and water for use in agglomeration processes. The invention is also directed to a reproducible method for preparing agglomerated latex particles to control and achieve particle size targets within a specified range and distribution, by utilizing the inventive latex composition and process conditions, but without the use of elevated temperature, pressurization or mechanical agitation of prior art processes.
