NANOPARTICLES COMPRISING COPOLYMERIC OR HOMOPOLYMERIC COMPOUNDS WHICH COMPRISE CYANOACRYLATE SUBUNITS
The invention relates to a nanoparticle comprising copolymeric or homopolymeric compounds which comprise cyanoacrylate subunits according to formula 2A, wherein each R.sup.1 is independently selected from the group consisting of 2-ethylhexyl, 2-phenylethyl, neopentyl, 1-pentyl, 2-pentyl, 3-pentyl, 3,3-dimethyl-1-butyl, 3-methylbutyl, -heptyl, 2-heptyl, and 3-heptyl; and wherein the nanoparticle further comprises an active agent. The invention also provides compositions comprising the nanoparticles, and the nanoparticles for use in therapy or diagnosis, such as in the treatment of cancer or an infection, or for use in diagnostic imaging.

This invention relates to cyanoacrylate-containing compositions that include (a) a beta-alkoxy cyanoacrylate component, (b) a cyanoacrylate component selected from butyl cyanoacrylates, octyl cyanoacrylates, and combinations thereof; (c) a rubber toughening component (d) a surface modified component; and (e) an adhesion promoter. Cured products of the inventive cyanoacrylate compositions demonstrate improved toughness without an odor typically found with cyanoacrylate-containing compositions.

Improved antimicrobial adhesive copolymer compositions for wound closure or surgical-site closure are provided. The antimicrobial adhesive copolymer compositions comprise cyanoacrylate-based tissue adhesive monomers and long-chain quaternary ammonium compounds (QUATs), or long-chain quaternary phosphonium compounds (QUPTs). The antimicrobial adhesive copolymer compositions offer advantages in wound closure or surgical-site closure with bactericidal and bacteriostatic effects on Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.
