Rotaxane and polyurethane using the same
An object of the present invention is to provide a novel rotaxane and a polyurethane using the same. The present invention provides a rotaxane having a crown ether and a chain molecule piercing through the cyclic structure of the crown ether, wherein a hydroxyl group exists at one terminal of the chain molecule, and a hydroxyl group bonds to the cyclic structure of the crown ether. The present invention further provides a polyurethane using the rotaxane as a polyol component.

The present invention relates to a urethane adhesive composition including: a urethane prepolymer having an isocyanate group; an isocyanurate compound having an isocyanurate ring; a terpene compound having active hydrogen; and a vinyl silane coupling agent represented by Formula (A) below: (where in Formula (A), R.sup.1 and R.sup.3 each independently represent a monovalent hydrocarbon group, R.sup.2 represents a (n+1) valent hydrocarbon group, Vi represents —CH═CH.sub.2, m1 is from 1 to 3, m2 is from 1 to 3, m3 is from 0 to 2, m1+m2+m3 is 4, and n is 1 or greater). ##STR00001##
CARBON NANOTUBE-FUNCTIONALIZED REVERSE THERMAL GEL AND METHODS OF FORMING AND USING SAME
Polymers suitable for forming carbon nanotube-functionalized reverse thermal gel compositions, compositions including the polymers, and methods of forming and using the polymers and compositions are disclosed. The compositions have reverse thermal gelling properties and transform from a liquid/solution to a gel—e.g., near or below body temperature. The polymers and compositions can be injected into or proximate an area in need of treatment.
Thermoplastic polyurethane fiber and method for producing the same
The present invention relates to a thermoplastic polyurethane fiber and a method for producing the same. A thermoplastic polyurethane material is firstly provided and subjected to a molten extruding process to form a fiber material. Next, an extension process is performed to the fiber material to obtain the thermoplastic polyurethane fiber of the present invention. The thermoplastic polyurethane fiber has a lower thermal shrinking property, thereby meeting requirements of the application.
One-part curable soft feel coatings
One-part, curable compositions that have a soft feel when applied as a coating/film and cured, may include a) at least one isocyanurate tri(meth)acrylate or derivative thereof; and at least one of components b)-e), wherein: b) is at least one urethane diacrylate; c) is at least one monofunctional or difunctional reactive diluent; d) is at least one solvent; and e) is additives. The one-part, curable compositions are advantageous with respect to softness and tailorability of softness as well as other properties such as mar resistance, abrasion resistance, stain resistance and chemical resistance. Due to their advantageous properties, embodiments of the one-part, curable compositions described herein are viable for a wide range of coating applications including automotives, aeronautics, cosmetics, small appliances, packaging and consumer electronics. Methods of making and using the one-part, curable are also described herein.
Antimicrobial guanidinium and thiouronium functionalized polymers
Antimicrobial cationic polycarbonates and polyurethanes have been prepared comprising one or more pendent guanidinium and/or isothiouronium groups. Additionally, antimicrobial particles were prepared having a silica core linked to surface groups comprising a guanidinium and/or isothiouronium group. The cationic polymers and cationic particles can be potent antimicrobial agents against Gram-negative microbes, Gram-positive microbes, and/or fungi.

Coating material, system based on Li/Bi catalysts
Disclosed herein is a coating material system containing (A) at least one polyhydroxy group-containing compound, (B) at least one polyisocyanate-containing compound, and (C) at least one catalyst comprising lithium (Li) and bismuth (Bi) as metal components and where the molar ratio of lithium to bismuth is at least 7:1 [mol/mol], in which i) components (A), (B), and (C) are present separately from one another, or ii) are mixed wholly or at least partly with one another. Methods for producing and using the coating material system are also disclosed herein.
Matted polyamide-pud
Polymers are disclosed that incorporate portions of secondary or tertiary polyamide segments connected with polyisocyanates. These polymers have enhanced matting properties. The enhanced matting properties are from creating an inherently matt surface from the polymer without the use of any separate fine particle size matting additives. Conventional matting agents such as fine particle size silica usually results in loss of physical properties such as haze development and porosity in the coating from the matting agent. Composites and hybrids of these polymers and other polyamides, polyurethane with vinyl polymers (acrylates) are also disclosed and claimed.
