Moisture-Curable Polyurethane Hot Melt Adhesive Composition with Oleic Chemical Resistance
A moisture-curable polyurethane hot melt adhesive composition having good oleic acid resistance, especially when exposed to 100% pure oleic acid under aging condition of 65° C. and 90% relative humidity, wherein the adhesive composition comprises, consists essentially of or consists of a moisture-curable polyurethane prepolymer, the prepolymer being a reaction product of at least one amorphous polyester polyol containing an aromatic group and at least one polyisocyanate, preferably at least one polyisocyanate containing an aromatic group, wherein the aromatic group is comprised in the polyurethane prepolymer in a content of no less than 23 wt. %, preferably no less than 25 wt. %, more preferably no less than 30 wt. %.
COATING COMPOSITIONS FOR APPLICATION UTILIZING A HIGH TRANSFER EFFICIENCY APPLICATOR AND METHODS AND SYSTEMS THEREOF
A method of applying a coating composition to a substrate utilizing a high transfer efficiency applicator include the steps of providing the high transfer efficiency applicator comprising an array of nozzles wherein each nozzle defines a nozzle orifice having a diameter of from 0.00002 m to 0.0004, providing the coating composition, and applying the coating composition to the substrate through the nozzle orifice without atomization such that at least 99.9% of the applied coating composition contacts the substrate to form a coating layer having a wet thickness of at least 5 microns, wherein the coating composition includes a carrier, a binder, and a radar reflective pigment or a LiDAR reflective pigment. The coating composition has an Ohnesorge number (Oh) of from about 0.01 to about 12.6, a Reynolds number (Re) of from about 0.02 to about 6,200, and a Deborah number (De) of from greater than 0 to about 1730.
THERMOPLASTIC POLYURETHANE FOAM AND IMPACT RESISTANT COMPOSITE LAMINATE COMPRISING THE SAME
Provided are a thermoplastic polyurethane foam and an impact resistant composite laminate. The thermoplastic polyurethane comprises a structural unit represented by Formula (I):
##STR00001## wherein each R independently is an alkylene group having 2 to 8 carbon atoms or —CH.sub.2CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2CH.sub.2— or —CH.sub.2CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2CH.sub.2—; n is a number from 2 to 13; and the structural unit has a Mn ranging from 700 g/mole to 2500 g/mole. The impact resistant composite laminate comprises a base layer and a first impact resistant layer formed by the thermoplastic polyurethane foam, and the first impact resistant layer overlaps the base layer.
ADHESIVE AGENT, LAMINATE, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING LAMINATE, AND PACKAGING MATERIAL
Provided are a two-component curable adhesive which can be aged at room temperature and has favorable adhesiveness to various base materials, a laminate in which the adhesiveness between a base material and an adhesive is excellent even when aged at room temperature, and a packaging material including the laminate. The two-component curable adhesive includes a polyisocyanate composition (X) including a polyisocyanate compound (A) and a polyol composition (Y) including a polyol (B), in which a viscosity of the polyol composition at 50° C. is 20 mPa.Math.s or more and 180 mPa.Math.s or less.
ISOCYANATE-REACTIVE COMPOSITIONS, POLYURETHANE FOAMS FORMED THEREFROM, MULTI-LAYER COMPOSITE ARTICLES THAT INCLUDE SUCH FOAMS, AND METHODS FOR THEIR PREPARATION
Isocyanate-reactive composition that include a polyol blend, a blowing agent composition, and a catalyst. The polyol blend includes a polyether polyol having a functionality of 2 to 6 and an OH number of 20 to 50 mg KOH/g, which is present in an amount of at least 30% by weight, based on total weight of the isocyanate-reactive composition, and an aromatic polyester polyol having a functionality of 1.5 to 3 and an OH number of 150 to 450 mg KOH/g, which is present in an amount of at least 40% by weight, based on total weight of the isocyanate-reactive composition. The blowing agent composition includes water, the water being present in an amount of 1 to 20% by weight, based on total weight of the isocyanate-reactive composition and in an amount of at least 90% by weight, based on total weight of the blowing agent composition. The isocyanate-reaction composition has a green content of at least 30% by weight, based on total weight of the isocyanate-reactive composition. Polyurethane foam-forming reaction mixtures, polyurethane foams, multi-layer composite articles and methods for their production are also described.
METHOD OF APPLYING A ONE-COMPONENT WATERBORNE COATING COMPOSITION TO A SUBSTRATE UTILIZING A HIGH TRANSFER EFFICIENCY APPLICATOR
A method includes applying a coating composition to a substrate through a high transfer efficiency applicator wherein the coating composition has a pH of greater than about 7 and comprises: A. a resin dispersion comprising a latex, a polyurethane, or combinations thereof; B. an optional cross-linker; C. an optional pigment; D. water; E. a water-soluble solvent; and F. at least one rheology control agent chosen from an alkali swellable emulsion, a layered silicate, and combinations thereof; wherein the coating composition has a viscosity of about 20 to about 100 cps as determined using ASTM 7867-13 with cone-and-plate or parallel plates at a shear rate of 1000 sec-1, and wherein the coating composition has a wet film thickness of at least 20 microns measured at about 45 degrees without visible sag.
COMPOSITION HAVING POLYOL AND ISOCYANATE
Provided is a composition comprising one or more multifunctional isocyanate compounds and one or more polyols having a specified structure. Also provided is a method of adhering a first substrate to a second substrate to form an assembled article, wherein the method comprises the steps of applying a layer of the composition to a first surface of the first substrate and then bringing the layer of the composition into contact with a first surface of the second substrate. Also provided is an assembled article made by that method.
One component self-crosslinking coatings
A waterborne one-component coating composition capable of self-crosslinking and exhibiting a gloss and hardness improvement when cured that is similar to a solventborne two-component composition. The composition includes a urethane phase including a polyurethane polymer with at least polyester diol monomer units, polycarbonate diol monomer units, and ketone-functionalized diol monomer units. The composition may include an optional acrylic phase including an acrylic polymer having monomer units selected from one of alkyl (meth)acrylate monomer units, vinyl acetate monomer units, styrene monomer units, ketone-functional vinyl monomer units, or combinations thereof. The composition includes a hydrazine-functionalized crosslinking agent configured to crosslink one of the ketone-functionalized diol monomer units, the ketone-functional vinyl monomer units, or both. The composition further includes one or more tertiary amine reaction moderators or neutralizing agents.
Coating compositions for application utilizing a high transfer efficiency applicator and methods and systems thereof
A system for applying a first coating composition and a second coating composition. The system includes a first high transfer efficiency applicator defining a first nozzle orifice and a second high transfer efficiency applicator defining a second nozzle orifice. The system further includes a substrate defining a target area. The first high transfer efficiency applicator is configured to expel the first coating composition through the first nozzle orifice to the target area of the substrate to form a first coating layer. The second high transfer efficiency applicator is configured to expel the second coating composition through the second nozzle orifice to the first coating layer to form a second coating layer.
