Polyester polyol, thermoplastic polyurethane and article thereof
The present invention provides a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) having a glass transition temperature between an ambient temperature and normal body temperature, wherein the TPU contains dicarboxyphenyl polyester structure represented by Formula 1 or 10-(2,3-dicarboxypropyl)-9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide n(DOPO-ITA) polyester structure represented by Formula 2. The present invention also provides a polyester polyol containing DOPO-ITA polyester structure represented by Formula 2, a molar percentage of the 10-(2,3-dicarboxypropyl)-9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-oxide polyester structure in the whole polyester polyol ranges from 30% to 70%. The present invention relates to a phosphorus containing polyol, obtainable or obtained by a process comprising the reaction of at least one polyol with a phosphorus containing compound of the general formula (I) as defined herein, as well as the process for preparing a phosphorus containing polyol, comprising the reaction of at least one polyol with a phosphorus containing compound of the general formula (I). Furthermore, the present invention relates to the use of a phosphorus containing polyol as disclosed herein as a flame retardant, to a process for the preparation of a polyurethane and the polyurethane as such. ##STR00001##

A process for preparing a phosphorus-functional polyethercarbonate polyol, comprising reacting a polyethercarbonate polyol having unsaturated groups with a phosphorus-functional compound of formula (Ia): ##STR00001##

A polyurethane foam may include a base polyol component, a phosphorous polyol component, an expandable graphite, and melamine. The polyurethane foam may have a VO rating based on a UL94 flame retardancy test performed at a polyurethane foam thickness of 3.5 mm and a polyurethane foam density of 380 kg/m.sup.3.

The present invention provides novel cyclic phosphorus-containing compounds, namely hydroxyl-functional phospholene-1-oxides, serving as highly efficient reactive flame retardants in urethane systems, particularly in flexible polyurethane foams, semi-rigid and rigid polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams. The invention further provides fire-retarded polyurethane compositions comprising said hydroxyl-functional phospholene-1-oxides.

The present invention provides novel cyclic phosphorus-containing compounds, namely hydroxyl-functional phospholene-1-oxides, serving as highly efficient reactive flame retardants in urethane systems, particularly in flexible polyurethane foams, rigid polyurethane foams and rigid polyisocyanurate foams. The invention further provides fire-retarded polyurethane compositions comprising said hydroxyl-functional phospholene-1-oxides.
