Processes for Producing Cyclic Olefins from Polymers and Re-Polymerization Thereof
In some embodiments, a process for producing a cyclic olefin includes introducing a polymer to a metathesis catalyst in a reaction vessel under reaction conditions. The process includes obtaining a cyclic olefin product comprising the cyclic olefin. In some embodiments, a process for producing a cyclic olefin includes introducing an article comprising a polymer to a metathesis catalyst in a reaction vessel under reaction conditions. The process includes obtaining a cyclic olefin product comprising the cyclic olefin.
POLYMER COMPOSITION COMPRISING GRAPHENE
A polymer composition contains, based on a total weight of the polymer composition: a) 40 wt. % to 99 wt. % of a polyalkenamer derived from at least one cycloalkene having 5 to 12 carbon atoms, and b) 1 wt% to 60 wt. % of graphene. The polyalkenamer has a trans-isomer content larger than 50)wt.° /0 based on a weight of the polyalkenamer. A moulded article can be produced from the polymer composition, which can be a board, a film, a bristle, or a foam. The moulded article can be used as a clothing element, sport element, sealing material, electrically conductive article, friction control element, transportation element, or structural element.
RUBBER COMPOUNDS FOR PASSENGER TIRE TREADS AND METHODS RELATING THERETO
A rubber compound suitable for passenger tires may comprise: 40 to 70 parts by weight per hundred parts by weight rubber (phr) of a long chain branched cyclopentene ring-opening rubber (LCB-CPR) having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of −120° C. to −80° C., a g′.sub.vis of 0.50 to 0.91, and a ratio of cis to trans of 40:60 to 5:95, 30 phr to 60 phr of a styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), wherein the SBR has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of −60° C. to −5° C., 50 phr to 110 phr of a reinforcing filler, and 20 phr to 50 phr of a process oil.
RUBBER COMPOUNDS FOR HEAVY-DUTY TRUCK AND BUS TIRE TREADS AND METHODS RELATING THERETO
A rubber compound for heavy-duty truck or bus tire treads may comprise: 5 to 100 parts by weight per hundred parts by weight rubber (phr) of a long chain branched cyclopentene ring opening rubber (LCB-CPR) having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of −120° C. to −80° C., a g′vis of 0.50 to 0.91, and a ratio of cis-to-trans of 40:60 to 5:95; 0 phr to 95 phr of a rubber selected from a group consisting of a natural rubber (NR), a polybutadiene rubber (BR), and a combination thereof; 30 phr to 90 phr of a reinforcing filler; and 0.5 phr to 20 phr of a process oil.

A ring-opened copolymer composition has a ring-opened copolymer containing structural unit derived from a norbornene compound represented by general formula (1) below and structural unit derived from a monocyclic olefin, wherein a content of a norbornene compound represented by general formula (1) is 1 ppm by weight or more and 1000 ppm by weight or less based on the ring-opened copolymer, ##STR00001## wherein R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 are each a hydrogen atom, a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or a substituent containing a halogen atom, a silicon atom, an oxygen atom or a nitrogen atom, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may be bonded to each other to form a ring, and “m” is 0 or 1.

A liquid cyclopentene ring-opened copolymer includes a monomer unit derived from cyclopentene and a monomer unit derived from a norbornene compound, the monomer unit derived from cyclopentene being present in an amount of 60 to 95 wt %, the liquid cyclopentene ring-opened copolymer having a hydroxyl group-terminated copolymer chain and having a melt viscosity at 25° C. of less than 500 Pa.Math.s, which is measured using a B-type viscometer.
SHAPING MATERIAL AND SHAPED PRODUCT
Provided is a shaping material with which a shaped product having excellent flame retardancy can be formed. The shaping material contains a hydrogenated cycloolefin ring-opened polymer and an organophosphinate flame retardant. The organophosphinate flame retardant is either or both of a compound indicated by the following formula (I) and a compound indicated by the following formula (II). Moreover, the organophosphinate flame retardant has an average dispersion diameter of 10 μm or less.

A ring-opened copolymer including structural units derived from a norbornene compound having a specific structure and structural units derived from a monocyclic olefin, wherein the proportion of the structural units derived from a norbornene compound is 25 to 90 wt % and the proportion of the structural units derived from a monocyclic olefin is 10 to 75 wt % relative to the total repeating structural units in the ring-opened copolymer, the weight average molecular weight of the ring-opened copolymer is 100,000 to 1,000,000, and the cis/trans ratio of the ring-opened copolymer is 0/100 to 50/50.

Low Molecular Weight Sterically Encumbered Oligomers
Low molecular weight, high Tg resins, with applications including tire additives and adhesives. An oligomer is obtained by ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of a sterically encumbered cyclic monomer with an olefinic chain transfer agent. The sterically encumbered cyclic monomer and the olefinic chain transfer agent are present in the polymerization at a molar ratio of from 2:1 to about 40:1.
