This invention relates to the field of polymers and olefin polymerization, and more specifically olefin metathesis polymerization. Specifically, the present invention provides a polymer comprising rigorously alternating AB subunits and methods of formation of the AB alternating polymers. In the polymers and process of the invention, the A monomer is derived from a cyclobutene derivative, and the B monomer is derived from a cyclohexene derivative. The polymerization takes place in the presence of an olefin metathesis catalyst.

Compositions Comprising Cyclic Olefins and Thermally Conductive Filler

A composition is described comprising a cyclic olefin; a ring opening metathesis polymerization catalyst; and at least 40 wt. % of thermally conductive particles. The thermally conductive particles are selected such that the composition after curing has a thermal conductivity of at least 1W/M*K. In one embodiment, the thermally conductive particle comprises a combination of smaller and larger thermally conductive particles. In another embodiment, the thermally conductive particles comprise boron nitride particles. Also described are (e.g. structural) adhesives, methods of bonding and articles.

Adhesive composition and articles are described comprising a carrier substrate (e.g. release liner or backing) and an adhesive composition disposed on the carrier substrate. The adhesive composition comprises at least 20 wt.% of a polymer; unpolymerized cyclic olefin; and a (e.g. latent) ring opening metathesis polymerization catalyst or precatalyst thereof. The polymer may have a Tg less than 25° C. and/or may be an acrylic polymer. Also described is a method of bonding.

High impact strength 3D printing materials derived from polycycloolefin monomers and crosslinkers

Embodiments in accordance with the present invention encompass a composition containing a latent catalyst and a compound capable of generating a Bronsted acid with a counterion capable of coordinating and activating the latent catalyst along with one or more monomers which undergo ring open metathesis polymerization (ROMP) and one or more multi-functional crosslinkable molecules when said composition is exposed to a suitable radiation forms a three-dimensional (3D) object. The catalyst system employed therein can be sensitive to oxygen and thus inhibits polymerization in ambient atmospheric conditions. The three-dimensional objects made by this process exhibits improved mechanical properties, particularly, high distortion temperature, impact strength, elongation to break, among others. Accordingly, compositions of this invention are useful as 3D inkjet materials for forming high impact strength objects of various sizes with microscale features lower than 100 microns, among various other uses.

COMPOSITIONS FOR STABILIZING METAL-FREE RING-OPENING METATHESIS POLYMERIZATION AND RELATED METHODS

A reactant composition for forming a polymer via metal-free ring-opening metathesis polymerization may comprise a stabilizer, a stabilizing reactant comprising a stabilizing moiety covalently bound to a reactant moiety, or both; wherein the stabilizer is a halogenated alcohol and the stabilizing moiety is derived from a halogenated alcohol. The reactant composition further comprises a strained cyclic unsaturated monomer; an initiator; a mediator; and optionally, one or more of a co-monomer, a crosslinker, and a chain transfer agent.
