Described herein is a coating composition including (A) a physically curing, reactively self-curing and/or externally curing component, including, based on a total solids content of component (A), from 0.1% by weight to about 2.5% by weight of a branched polyester polyol, preparable by: (a) reacting a polyol including at least three hydroxyl groups with an aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having from 6 to 36 carbon atoms or an esterifiable derivative of the aliphatic dicarboxylic acid to form a hydroxyl-functional first intermediate product; (b) reacting the first intermediate product with a cyclic carboxylic acid anhydride to form a carboxylic acid-functional second intermediate product; and (c) reacting the second intermediate product with an epoxide-functional compound having one epoxide group to form the branched polyester polyol; and (B) a crosslinking component in case component (A) includes one or more externally curing components; and optionally (C), a diluent component.

The foam compositions can be used for home and commercial insulation, air sealing, sound proofing, structural improvement, and exterior roofing, among other applications. POLYMER AEROGEL WITH IMPROVED MECHANICAL AND THERMAL PROPERTIES

An aerogel that includes an open-cell structured polymer matrix is disclosed. The aerogel includes 5 wt. % to 50 wt. % of a polyamic amide polymer, based on the total weight of the aerogel, pores and at least 90% of the pore volume of the aerogel is made up of macropores, a porosity of at least 50%, as measure according to ASTM D4404-10, a density of 0.01 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.5 g/cm.sup.3, and the aerogel is thermally stable to resist browning at 330° C.

A method of forming a dendrimer hydrogel, the method comprising providing one or more amine end-functioned polyamidoamine (PAMAM) as a first reactant; providing one or more small molecule, polymer, hyperbranched molecule, or dendrimer as a second reactant, wherein the second reactant comprises one or more acrylate groups; and reacting the first reactant with the second reactant by way of conjugate addition. Compositions obtained thereby and uses thereof are also provided.

Polymer aerogel with improved mechanical and thermal properties

An aerogel that includes an open-cell structured polymer matrix that can have 5 wt. % to 50 wt. % of a polyamic amide polymer, based on the total weight of the aerogel is disclosed. The aerogel can have a density of 0.05 g/cm.sup.3 to 0.35 g/cm.sup.3 and can be thermally stable to resist browning at 330° C.
