Crosslinked polysaccharides and related methods
Methods of forming cross-linked polysaccharides are disclosed in which one or more polysaccharides are dissolved in solution, gelled, modified to have a desired concentration, and subsequently irradiated. The irradiation of the gel crosslinks the polysaccharide(s) present. The disclosed techniques may be applied to various polysaccharides, including but not limited to agarose and/or hyaluronic acid.
Hydrogel membrane for adhesion prevention
A biocompatible membrane comprised of alginate and hyaluronate. The membrane may be used to prevent unwanted scarring after surgery. The tissue adherence and the rate of bioresorption of the membrane may be modified through an external stimulus comprising a sequestering agent and a viscosity modifier.
HYDROGEL OF MERCAPTO-MODIFIED MACROMOLECULAR COMPOUND, AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREFOR AND USE THEREOF
A preparation method of a hydrogel of a mercapto-modified macromolecular compound includes the steps of combining the mercapto-modified macromolecular compound with an acrylated macromolecular compound and/or an acrylated micromolecular crosslinker. The mercapto-modified macromolecular compound can be crosslinked with the acrylated macromolecular compound and/or the acrylated micromolecular crosslinker under physiological conditions to form the hydrogel. Due to the rapid mercapto-vinyl crosslinking reaction, the formed hydrogel system can be quickly gelled in situ after being injected into the body. The hydrogel is thus suitable for use in the fields of biomedicine, medical cosmetic plastic surgery and cosmetics.
BIODEGRADABLE RESIN COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
A biodegradable resin composition and a method for producing the biodegradable resin composition are disclosed. The biodegradable resin includes three components, polyethylene, a biodegradable resin, and at least one selected from polybutylene adipate terephthalate and maleic anhydride copolymer, thereby providing excellent compatibility and mechanical properties.
ANTIMICROBIAL COATING FOR POLYMERIC FOOD PACKAGING
Provided herein are antimicrobial coating compositions and food packaging materials coated therewith. The coating compositions include at least one antimicrobial active agent and a hydrophilic polymer, such that the active agent is immobilized within the composition.
Biocompatible porous materials and methods of manufacture and use
Methods and materials used for production of constructs having a porous open or semi-open celled structure. Constructs may include a porous matrix as a base and a biocompatible conformal coating thereon.
Compositions Suitable for Making Edible Films or Coatings
A composition suitable for making edible films or coatings, the composition comprising a conjugate of bio fiber gum and whey protein isolate and at least one food grade antimicrobial.
Composite materials
A composite material is formed by combining an expandable polymer having a charge with another polymer having an opposite charge to produce. In particular, the composite material can be prepared by combining the polymers with a medium such as and water, and expanding the mixture using a treatment that expands the mixture to produce, for example, insoluble porous foam-like composites.
THERMALLY CROSSLINKED POLY(GLUCURONIC ACID)-CHITOSAN FILMS WITH HIGH OXYGEN AND WATER VAPOR BARRIER PROPERTIES
Disclosed are films and materials comprising poly(alkylene glycol)-chitosan and/or chitin-poly(glucuronic acid) and chitosan and/or chitin-poly(glucuronic acid). Methods of making such films, particularly involving thermally crosslinking poly(glucuronic acid) with chitosan, are disclosed.
Biocompatible phase invertible proteinaceous compositions and methods for making and using the same
Biocompatible phase invertible proteinaceous compositions and methods for making and using the same are provided. The subject phase invertible compositions are prepared by combining a crosslinker and a proteinaceous substrate. The proteinaceous substrate includes one or more proteins and a polyamine, where the polyamine and a proteinaceous substrate are present in synergistic viscosity enhancing amounts, and may also include one or more of: a carbohydrate, a tackifying agent, a plasticizer, or other modification agent. In certain embodiments, the crosslinker is a heat-treated dialdehyde, e.g., heat-treated glutaraldehyde. Also provided are kits for use in preparing the subject compositions. The subject compositions, kits and systems find use in a variety of different applications.
