FLUORINATED-ALIPHATIC HYDROCARBON BASED STABLE ANION- EXCHANGE MEMBRANE AND ITS METHOD OF PREPARATION THEREOF

Anion-exchange membranes are useful for electro-membrane processes such as electrodialysis (water desalination, separation of inorganics from organic molecules, separation of specific inorganic ion, etc.), in-situ ion-exchange and ion substitution, electro-deionization for producing ultrapure water, polymer electrolyte membrane for alkaline fuel cell and electrolysis applications. The present invention discloses an acid and base resistant fluorinated hydrocarbon based anion-exchange membrane and its method of preparation thereof. In the first step co-polymerization is carried out between N-isopropylacrylamide and 1-vinylimidazole. In the second step, obtained inter-polymer of isopropylacrylamide-co-vinylimidazole co-polymer is mixed with poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-co-HFP) (IA-co-VI/PVDF-co-HFP), which is used for casting membrane film of desired thickness. The obtained casted membrane thin film is quaternized in methyl iodide solution.

PREPARATION METHOD OF FLUOROPOLYMER PROCESSING AID

A preparation method of a fluoropolymer processing aid. The preparation method comprises the following steps: simultaneously adding ε-caprolactone and a fluoropolymer elastomer into a reactor, and heating to completely dissolve the fluoropolymer elastomer; and then cooling, adding polyol, mixing thoroughly, and adding an organotin catalyst to carry out a polymerization reaction; and after the reaction is finished, carrying out cooling, pulverizing or spray granulation so as to obtain the fluoropolymer processing aid. The processing aid prepared by using the method can reduce the extrusion pressure of a polymer during extrusion, improve the processing efficiency, improve the phenomena of melt rupture and “sharkskin” during polymer extrusion, and effectively enhance the surface quality of a product. Compared with the prior art, the processing aid of the invention has the characteristics of uniform dispersed particle size during polymer processing, no coking at a die head during long-time polymer extrusion processing, etc.

Heating of polymeric materials

A material susceptible to dielectric heating has a base polymeric thermoplastic material (1) and a dielectric heating susceptor (2, 3) which increases susceptibility to heating by irradiation with electromagnetic, for example RF or microwave, radiation. The dielectric heating susceptor has a polymeric material (2) such as PVDF which is different from the base polymeric material and has a higher dielectric loss factor than the base polymeric material. The dielectric heating susceptor also comprises electrically polarisable entities such as carbon black dispersed within the base polymeric material without forming a conductive network. The two susceptor materials in combination with the base polymer are particularly effective together at improving susceptibility to electromagnetic radiation heating of the whole material.

PVDF THIN FILM HAVING A BIMODAL MOLECULAR WEIGHT AND HIGH PIEZOELECTRIC RESPONSE

A mechanically and piezoelectrically anisotropic polymer thin film is formed from a crystallizable polymer and an additive configured to interact with the polymer to facilitate chain alignment and, in some examples, create a higher crystalline content within the polymer thin film. The polymer thin film and its method of manufacture may be characterized by a bimodal molecular weight distribution where the molecular weight of the additive may be less than approximately 5% of the molecular weight of the crystallizable polymer. Example polymers may include vinylidene fluoride, trifluoroethylene, chlorotrifluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, and vinyl fluoride. Example additives may occupy up to approximately 60 wt. % of the polymer thin film. The polymer thin film may be characterized by a piezoelectric coefficient (d.sub.31) of at least approximately 5 pC/N or an electromechanical coupling factor (k.sub.31) of at least approximately 0.1.
