One embodiment of the present invention provides a hydrophilic composite porous membrane including: a polyolefin microporous membrane, and an olefin/vinyl alcohol-based resin with which at least one main surface and inner surfaces of pores of the polyolefin microporous membrane are coated, in which a ratio t/x of a membrane thickness t (μm) to an average pore diameter x (μm), as measured with a perm porometer, is from 50 to 630.
Method and composition of making polymer products
A method and composition of making polymer products from thermoplastic polymers by melt processing. Cross-linked polyethylene are mixed with at least one thermoplastic matrix polymer to form a polymer composition which is melt-processed. The cross-linked polyethylene is formed by a finely divided powder with particles having a screened size of less than 600 μm and a D.sub.50 of 200 to 400 μm. Cross-linked polyolefin can be used in a cost-effective and simple manner so that products generally considered a waste, such as scrapped cross-linked polyethylene pipes or unused cross-linked polyethylene discarded in e.g. pipe making processes, can be recycled and used as a starting material for polymer products.
Aqueous coating composition
This invention relates to an aqueous coating composition, a greaseproof article and a process of forming a coating on a substrate. The aqueous coating composition comprises at least the following components: an organopolysiloxane (A) which is a polysiloxane compound having at least two alkenyl groups per molecule, an organohydrogenpolysiloxane (B) which is a polysiloxane compound comprising at least two Si H groups per molecule, an hydrosilylation catalyst (C) able to catalyse an hydrosilylation reaction between the organopolysiloxane compound (A) and the organohydrogenpolysiloxane compound (B), an organic copolymer (D) comprising at least two types of repeating units (i) and (ii): unit (i) which is an alkyl group comprising from 2 to 2 carbon atoms, unit (ii) which is an alkyl group comprising from 2 to 12 carbon atoms and having at least one pendant alcohol substituent, water, and the composition is able to form upon curing by hydrosilylation a coating on a substrate.
Water-soluble film and method for manufacturing same
The present invention provides a water-soluble film having excellent solubility in cold water, high strength, and excellent hard-water resistance. The present invention also provides a method for simply producing such a water-soluble film. One aspect of the present invention relates to a water-soluble film including a polymer containing an anionic group other than a sulfonic acid (salt) group, and a water-soluble resin. The anionic group-containing polymer excludes an acrylic acid homopolymer. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method for producing a water-soluble film that includes a polymer containing an anionic group other than a sulfonic acid (salt) group, and a water-soluble resin. The method includes mixing a polymer containing an anionic group other than a sulfonic acid (salt) group and a water-soluble resin.
AQUEOUS COATING COMPOSITIONS FOR BARRIER COATINGS, COATED PACKAGING MATERIAL, AND METHOD
An aqueous coating composition and a coated packaging material prepared by applying the aqueous coating composition to packaging material comprise poly(vinyl alcohol-vinyl primary amine), poly(methyl vinyl ether-maleic anhydride), and a Ca.sup.++ microgranulated bentonite clay. The poly(vinyl alcohol-vinyl primary amine) is about 90-98.5 weight percent and the combined weight of poly(methyl vinyl ether-maleic anhydride) and the Ca.sup.++ microgranulated bentonite clay is from about 1.5-10 weight percent of the coating formed on the packaging material. The weight ratio of the poly(methyl vinyl ether-maleic anhydride) to the Ca.sup.++ microgranulated bentonite clay is from about 20:80 to about 80:20. The poly(methyl vinyl ether-maleic anhydride) is at least 0.8 weight percent of the coating formed on the packaging material and/or has a weight average molecular weight of at least about 1,000,000 Daltons. The applied coating composition is dried at a temperature of up to about 50 C. to form the coated packaging material. The coating is ink-receptive and has an oxygen transmission rate of up to 0.71 cm.sup.3/100 in.sup.2/24 hr and a moisture vapor transmission rate of up to about 2.2 g/m.sup.2/24 hr.
