Mucoadhesive Polymeric Drug Delivery Compositions and Methods

This invention provides compositions for controlled localized depositing of one or more drugs within a subject. More particularly, described herein are compositions comprising a) a polyethylene glycol (PEG) composition having a first low molecular weight PEG (Mw between 200-500 Da) and a second low molecular weight PEG (Mw between 500-2000 Da) and b) a mucoadhesive in polymer. Alternatively, composition may comprise a) a polyethylene glycol (PEG) composition having a first low molecular weight PEG (Mw between 200-500 Da) and a second low molecular weight PEG (Mw between 500-2000 Da), b) a water insoluble polymer and c) a mucoadhesive polymer. Furthermore, the composition may further comprise one or more drugs. Also provided are methods of manufacturing and administering the compositions described herein, which are used as biodegradable, injectable mucoadhesive low-viscosity pastes.

The present application belongs to a technical field of modifying natural polymer materials, provides a high-viscosity lithium carboxymethyl cellulose and preparation method therefor and application thereof. Raw materials are fed into a reactor, and the high-viscosity lithium carboxymethyl cellulose is prepared through an alkalization reaction, an etherification reaction, an acidification reaction and a substitution reaction. The prepared high-viscosity lithium carboxymethyl cellulose can be used for preparing a negative electrode plate of a lithium-ion battery. Compared with the existing lithium carboxymethyl cellulose, the high-viscosity lithium carboxymethyl cellulose provided by the present application can not only reduce an application amount in preparing a negative electrode plate of a lithium-ion battery so as to save a using cost, but also promote an electrochemical performance of the material in combination with a sodium lignin sulfonate.

A method is disclosed of in-situ retention and buffering of an amount of water in soil to support the growth of an agricultural crop. The method comprises the step of adding an effective amount of a hydrogel material as a water retention agent during planting of seed in the soil. The hydrogel material including an insoluble, cross-linked carboxymethyl cellulose. Once penetration of water into the soil is allowed after the planting of seed, a proportion of the water which penetrates the soil is absorbed by the hydrogel material and, over time, the absorbed water is released by diffusion into the soil to support the growth of the agricultural crop. Also disclosed is the hydrogel material which comprises said carboxymethyl cellulose which has been cross-linked with a cross-linking polymer from the group consisting of: an amine monomer; an amide monomer; and an amine-amide co-polymer.

Large molecular weight alginates which are covalently modified to store and release nitric oxide, as well as methods of making and use thereof, are disclosed herein. The covalently modified alginates may be tailored to release nitric oxide in a controlled manner and are useful for eradication of both planktonic and biofilm-based bacteria.
