The disclosed technology relates to a plastic compound suitable for preparing articles, such as pipe, with good physical properties, such as impact strength, and resistance to environmental stress cracking (ESC). In particular, the technology relates to a vinyl chloride resin, which includes chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (“CPVC”) homopolymer. Further-more, the invention relates to vinyl chloride homopolymer compounds containing the vinyl chloride homopolymer resin, and articles made from such compounds, which compounds meet 23447 cell classifications under ASTM D1784.

Polymer Compositions with Improved Rheological Properties

Provided herein are metallocene-catalyzed polymer compositions that exhibit advantageous rheological properties, at least some of which are consistent with long-chain branching, as well as polymerization processes suitable for forming such polymer compositions. The polymer compositions may have both LCB index measured at 125° C. of less than 5; and phase angle δ at complex shear modulus G*=100,000 Pa of less than about 54.5°, as determined at 125° C. The polymer compositions of particular embodiments are reactor blends, preferably of ethylene copolymers (e.g., ethylene-propylene (EP) copolymers and/or ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymers). The reactor blend may include first and second copolymer components, which may differ in monomer content and weight-average molecular weight (Mw).

PLASTICIZER FOR RESINS

A plasticizer may be suitable for resins and contain an amorphous propylenic polymer having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw), measured according to a GPC method, in a range of from 5,000 to 30,000 and having a molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn) of 3.0 or less. The amorphous propylenic polymer may be a propylene homopolymer

RIGID POLYMERIC MODULAR FLOORING PLANK WITH CPVC AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
20230235574 · 2023-07-27 · ·

A rigid polymeric modular flooring plank that contains chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) in the core or base layer. The rigid polymeric modular flooring plank has at least a polymeric core or base layer, a decorative layer, and a wear layer located above the decorative layer. The CPVC can offset the negative effects from any plasticizer present in the core layer, and thus permits the core layer to include plasticized material such as from recycled or reclaimed sources including rework and scrap materials. Methods of making the planks are further described. A method to control dimensional stability of a polymeric flooring plank is further described.
