Method of making an asphalt composition containing ester bottoms

This invention involves the addition of ester bottoms to an asphalt paving composition to improve the usable temperature range (UTR). The ester bottoms are a byproduct of refining a feedstock containing all or a portion of vegetable oil or animal fat.

Thermoplastic Polyolefin Containing Amorphous Ethylene Elastomer

Disclosed is a thermoplastic polyolefin composition useful in automotive components comprising at least a polypropylene having a melting point temperature (T.sub.m) of greater than 130° C. and a melt flow rate (230° C./2.16 kg) within the range from 10 g/10 min to 80 g/10 min; an amorphous ethylene-propylene copolymer comprising within the range from 40 wt % to 80 wt % ethylene derived units and having a melt flow rate (230° C./2.16 kg) within the range from 0.1 g/10 min to 20 g/10 min; and a propylene-based elastomer having within the range from 5 to 25 wt % ethylene derived units and having a T.sub.m of less than 110° C. The composition only partially breaks or there is no break at −29° C. (ASTM D256) with Notched Izod Force of between 10 to 40 ft-lb/in.sup.2 at 22° C. (533 to 2,132 J/m.sup.2), and between 1.0 to 12 ft-lb/in.sup.2 at −29° C. (53 to 636 J/m.sup.2).

High stiffness polypropylene impact copolymer

Disclosed is a polypropylene with an MFR of at least 20 g/10 min comprising a homopolypropylene and optionally within a range from 2 wt % to 30 wt % of an propylene-α-olefin copolymer by weight of the polypropylene; wherein the homopolypropylene has a MFR within a range from 30 g/10 min to 200 g/10 min, an Mw/Mn within a range from 7 to 16, and comprising 1.1 wt % or less atactic polypropylene based on the total weight of the homopolypropylene and atactic polypropylene, where the propylene-α-olefin copolymer has within a range from 30 wt % to 50 wt % α-olefin derived units by weight of the propylene-α-olefin copolymer, and an intrinsic viscosity within a range from 4 to 8 dL/g. The impact copolymer may be obtained by combining a Ziegler-Natta catalyst having at least two different internal electron donors with propylene in reactors in series to produce the homopolypropylene followed by a gas phase reactor to produce a propylene-α-olefin copolymer.

Process for Production of Thermoplastic Vulcanizates using Supported Catalyst Systems and Compositions Made Therefrom

The present disclosure provides a catalyst system comprising the product of a catalyst compound capable of making crystalline material (such as isotactic PP) and a second catalyst compound capable of making non-diene-containing-amorphous material and diene-containing-elastomeric material. The catalyst system of the present disclosure may further comprise a support material (or product thereof) having one or more of: a surface area of from 400 m.sup.2/g to 800 m.sup.2/g; an average pore diameter of 90 Angstroms or greater; an average particle size of 60 μm or greater; 40% or greater of the incremental pore volume comprising pores having a pore diameter larger than 100 Angstroms or greater; and sub-particles having an average particle size in the range of 0.01 μm to 5 μm. In another embodiment, a propylene polymer composition includes: isotactic polypropylene; 5 wt % or greater of atactic polypropylene, based on the weight of the composition; and an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer. The present disclosure further provides methods for forming propylene polymer compositions.

Provided is a hot melt adhesive agent for a container with a straw comprising an amorphous poly-α-olefin (A) and a metallocene polymer (B).

Resin molded body and method for producing resin molded body

A resin molded body includes: a polyolefin element formed of polyolefin, including a crystalline region and an amorphous region; and a hydrophilic copolymer contained in at least part of a surface of the polyolefin element, the hydrophilic copolymer including a copolymer of 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine (MPC) of 45% or greater on a mole fraction basis and at least one other monomer. In the resin molded body, the MPC polymer is immersed through the surface by applying heat treatment.
