RUBBER COMPOSITION AND TIRE COMPRISING SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES AND RELATED METHODS
Recycled elements and/or renewable resources, such as recycled carbon black or recycled carbon black and recycled particulate rubber, are incorporated into a rubber composition. The rubber composition can be used to manufacture tires or various tire components including tire subtreads.
DEGRADABLE FISHING LINES AND NETS
The disclosure provides embodiments of environmentally acceptable fishing lines or fishing nets. Embodiments of the disclosed fishing line or net may comprise a degradable polymer having components derived from i) biomass sources, ii) protein, fatty acid or lipid sources, iii) microbial-based monomers and polymers, iv) agro-based monomers and polymers, v) sugar or starch based monomers and polymers, or combinations thereof, as well as fishing lines and net that further comprise an additive having components derived from i) polyol sources, ii) citrate sources, iii) fatty acid sources, iv) biomass oil sources, or combinations thereof. Some of the embodiments of the disclosed fishing lines or nets may have a suitable fiber core, while other embodiments of the disclosed fishing lines or nets are degradable over a predetermined period of time. The disclosed embodiments are preferred because of the low environmental impact of the disclosed fishing lines or nets when compared to, for example, well known synthetic polymer fishing lines or nets.
Solid oleaginous compositions
An oleaginous composition is solidified at ambient temperature and in divided form, includes an oil, including at least one hydrocarbon oil of petroleum origin, and at least one chemical organogelator additive. The composition is used as a plasticiser, in particular in tyre production, or as a solvent, in particular in ink production. A method transports and/or stores and/or handles oleaginous compositions that are solid at ambient temperature and in divided form.
METHOD FOR THE PREPARATION OF BITUMEN AND INTERMEDIARY COMPOSITIONS
The invention concerns a method for the preparation of a bituminous composition BC comprising the following steps: a) having an intermediary hydrocarbonated composition IC comprising: a hydrocarbonated component selected among bitumen and oils, and a hydroxide XOH with X=Na or K, which represents from 15 to 50% by weight of the total weight of the intermediary hydrocarbonated composition IC, b) introducing the intermediary hydrocarbonated composition IC, into a composition HC of a bitumen, in particular chosen among paving grade bitumen as defined by EN 12591 and polymer modified bitumen as defined by EN 14023.
The intermediary hydrocarbonated composition IC as defined in the invention and its uses are other aspects of the invention.
Rubber-plastic composite foamed material
The rubber-plastic composite foamed material of the present invention is made by mixing and foaming a plurality of components including 100 parts by weight of rubber, 5-70 parts by weight of hollow glass microspheres, 2-25 parts by weight of carbon black, 10-40 parts by weight of softening oil, 10-30 parts by weight of sulfur ointment, 0.5-5 parts by weight of antioxidant, 0.5-10 parts by weight of crosslinking agent and 2-12 parts by weight of foaming agent. By including hollow glass microspheres into the composition, the rubber-plastic composite foamed material of the present invention exhibits better compression resistance and heat retention.
Thermoplastic elastomer composition
A thermoplastic elastomer composition contains component (A-2), component (B), and component (C). The content of component (A-2) is 5 parts by weight or more and 95 parts by weight or less with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total amounts of components (A-2) and (B), and the content of component (C) is 0.005% by weight or more and 3% by weight or less with respect to 100% by weight of the whole amount of the thermoplastic elastomer composition. Component (A-2) is a crosslinked product of component (A-1), which is an ethylene copolymer containing a monomer unit derived from propylene and/or α-olefins having 4 to 10 carbon atoms, and a monomer unit derived from ethylene, and having a Mooney viscosity (ML.sub.1+4, 125° C.) of 50 or more. Component (B) is a propylene polymer and component (C) is an antifungal agent.
Resin modified oil extended rubber
This invention is based upon the unexpected finding that a hydrocarbon traction resin can be dispersed into the oil used in making an oil extended emulsion and solution rubbers to attain improved performance characteristics. For instance, this technique allows for the hydrocarbon traction resin to be incorporated into the rubber at a higher level than would ordinarily be possible using conventional mixing techniques. In tire tread compounds this provides improved wet traction characteristics without compromising cured stiffness (dry traction) and ultimate properties (chip/chunk resistance). This technique can be used to incorporate a resin into virtually any synthetic rubber that can benefit from being oil extended. It is of particular value in making resin modified solution styrene-butadiene rubber (SSBR), emulsion styrene-butadiene rubber (ESBR), high cis-1.4-polybutadiene rubber, and synthetic polyisoprene rubber which are formulated for use in tire tread compounds.
