Polymer Compositions with Improved Rheological Properties
Provided herein are metallocene-catalyzed polymer compositions that exhibit advantageous rheological properties, at least some of which are consistent with long-chain branching, as well as polymerization processes suitable for forming such polymer compositions. The polymer compositions may have both LCB index measured at 125° C. of less than 5; and phase angle δ at complex shear modulus G*=100,000 Pa of less than about 54.5°, as determined at 125° C. The polymer compositions of particular embodiments are reactor blends, preferably of ethylene copolymers (e.g., ethylene-propylene (EP) copolymers and/or ethylene-propylene-diene (EPDM) terpolymers). The reactor blend may include first and second copolymer components, which may differ in monomer content and weight-average molecular weight (Mw).
Use of a coating on a chromium-free tinplate substrate
Use of a coating composition on a chromium free tinplate substrate, the coating composition comprising: a polyester material, and benzoguanamine or a derivative thereof, wherein the coating composition is substantially free of bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol F (BPF), bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) and bisphenol F diglycidyl ether (BFDGE).
Adhesive composition, adhesive comprising same, and manufacturing method therefor
The present invention relates to an adhesive composition comprising a polyvinyl alcohol and a water-soluble polyphenol compound, to an adhesive comprising the same, and to a manufacturing method therefor and, more specifically, to an adhesive composition, which has little toxicity, can adhere even without a curing process unlike a conventional adhesive, enables the manufacturing of a gel by hydrogen binding characteristics between the polyvinyl alcohol compound and the water-soluble polyphenol compound, and retains adhesive properties in water.
HIGH-RIGIDITY RUBBER COMPOSITION
The rubber composition comprises at least one phenol/aldehyde resin based on:
at least one aromatic polyphenol comprising at least one aromatic ring bearing at least two hydroxyl functions in the meta position relative to one another, the two positions ortho to at least one of the hydroxyl functions being unsubstituted, and
at least one aldehyde of formula (A):
##STR00001##
in which:
X comprises N, S or O,
R represents —H or —CHO.
Process for Producing Polymer Compositions
Processes are provided which include copolymerization using one or both of a metallocene catalyst capable of producing high molecular weight polymers and a metallocene catalyst capable of producing polymers having 60% or more vinyl terminations. Polymerization processes include dual catalyst polymerization in a single polymerization zone comprising both metallocene catalysts. Other processes include serial or parallel polymerizations in multiple polymerization zones, using either or both catalysts in each polymerization zone. Such polymerization processes produce reactor blends, and are particularly suited for producing copolymer compositions (such as EP or EPDM copolymer compositions) exhibiting improved melt elasticity and rheological properties.
PHENOLIC RESIN AND COATING COMPOSITIONS USING THE SAME
Coating compositions comprising a phenolic resin and a film-forming resin having functional groups that are reactive with the functionality of the phenolic resin are disclosed herein. The phenolic resin comprises a phenol group containing compound and a glyoxylic acid containing compound. Such phenolic resins may be used as formaldehyde-free crosslinkers in coating compositions and such coating compositions may be used on substrates comprising a non-porous material, such as metal, glass, and/or plastic. Also disclosed are methods of coating a substrate and coated substrates, including food and/or beverage containers.
Thermoplastic Vulcanizate Compositions
In methods for forming thermoplastic vulcanizates, and thermoplastic vulcanizates formed by such methods, a masterbatch comprising one or more additives in a carrier resin comprising propylene- or ethylene-based copolymer is added to the thermoplastic vulcanizate formulation. The resulting thermoplastic vulcanizate may additionally be passed through a 200 mesh or finer screen and thereafter extruded. The thermoplastic vulcanizates may exhibit increased extrusion throughput rates and enhanced surface smoothness.

The present invention relates to a polyamide-based thermoplastic elastomer composition [Y] in which a rubber composition [X] and a phenol resin-based crosslinking agent [IV] are dynamically crosslinked, the rubber composition [X] comprising a polyamide [I] including 30 to 100% by mole of a terephthalic acid structural unit and having a melting point of 220 to 290° C.; an ethylene-α-olefin-unconjugated polyene copolymer rubber [II] including structural units of ethylene, an α-olefin having 3 to 20 carbon atoms and an unconjugated polyene, respectively; and an olefin-based polymer [III] including 0.3 to 5.0% by mass of a functional group structural unit, (the total of [I] to [IV]: 100% by mass).
THERMOSETTING COATING COMPOSITIONS
The present invention provides emulsions comprising curable polyesters and certain surfactants. The emulsions are useful as coatings binders in waterborne thermosetting coating compositions and can be used in conjunction with cross-linking compounds reactive with curable polyesters. Also provided are shaped or formed articles coated with the waterborne thermosetting coating compositions of the invention.
