Method for manufacturing a closure for a product-retaining container
A method for manufacturing a closure constructed for being inserted and securely retained in a portal-forming neck of a product-retaining container is provided. Such method may include intimately combining a plurality of particles comprising cork and having a specified particle size distribution with a plastic material including one or more thermoplastic polymers, optionally in combination with other constituent(s) to form a composition, heating the composition to form a melt, extruding or molding a closure precursor from the melt to provide a specified water content range, and optionally cutting and/or finishing the closure precursor. A composition for use in manufacturing a closure for a product-retaining container includes a plurality of particles comprising cork and having a specified particle size distribution with a plastic material including one or more thermoplastic polymer, optionally in combination with other constituent(s). Methods for producing particulate material, cork composite material, and additional methods for producing closures are also provided.

AN AQUEOUS ADHESIVE COMPOSITION FOR LIGNOCELLULOSIC MATERIALS SUCH AS WOOD AND A METHOD OF PRODUCTION
The invention is directed to an aqueous adhesive composition for lignocellulosic materials.
Coated Article and Method for Coating of an Article
The invention describes an extrudable coating composition including a coating thermoplastic polymer and particles, wherein the particles are made from a particle material that has a modulus of compression from 0.1 to 100 MPa. The invention further describes a coating on at least a part of the surface of an article, the coating including a coating thermoplastic polymer and particles, wherein the particles are made from a particle material that has a modulus of compression from 0.1 to 100 MPa and that at least a part of the particles protrude from the surface of the coating. The invention also describes a coated article, in particular an imitation branch, a method of coating an article, and the use of particles made from a particle material with a compression modulus of 0.1 to 100 MPa in a coating composition for the coating of articles.
Electromagnetic-wave-absorbing materials for various applications
One subject of the present invention is an electromagnetic-wave-absorbing composite material comprising a carrier matrix (11) and an electromagnetic-wave-absorbing filler (12). According to the invention, the carrier matrix (11) is a cork matrix, which is formed of particles the equivalent diameter D.sub.el of which is comprised between 10 μm and 5 mm, and the composite material (1) has a real permittivity higher than 1.2 and a dielectric loss tangent tan δ higher than 0.1. Another subject of the present invention is a method for producing such a material, and the use of this material as an absorber, in particular in an anechoic chamber, or as a radar absorber in stealth devices, or even to improve the electromagnetic compatibility of electronic devices.
SHOE SOLE OR INSOLE HAVING SHEET-TYPE COATED CORK COUPLED THERETO, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Disclosed is a sole-type body member, which is a main body of a shoe sole or an insole, is laminated on the sheet-type coated cork, and is then pressed and heated so that a part of the sole-type body member is inserted into the main-body-coupling opening, thereby achieving coupling therebetween.

Method for preparing panels made of a composite of cork and polyethylene
The present invention relates to a process for preparation of polyethylene-cork composite panels comprising the steps of: mixing 10-64% of cork granulate and 36-90% of polyethylene granulate at room temperature, and feeding a press with this mixture; compressing this mixture in the press with a compression force in the range of 300-450 kN, at a temperature in the range of 160-200° C. and for a hot compression time between 24-180 seconds; and cooling to room temperature, with a compression force between 350-450 kN, for a cold compression time between 32 and 240 seconds; to obtain panels with a thickness between 3 and 5 mm. The invention further relates to a polyethylene-cork composite panel and also to use thereof in the construction industry, particularly as cover board core.
