DICHROIC DYE COMPOUND, POLARIZING FILM, AND USES THEREOF
A compound having a maximum absorption in a wavelength range of 350 nm to 550 nm that functions as a dichroic dye is provided. In particular, a compound represented by formula (1) is provided. In the compound represented by formula (1), R.sup.1 represents a hydrogen atom or the like; R.sup.2 represents an acyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms or the like; R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen atom or the like; and Y represents a group of formula (Y1). In the group of formula (Y1), * represents a bonding site with N, or a group of formula (Y2); and in the group of formula (Y2), * represents a bonding site with N; P.sup.1 and P.sup.2 each independently represent —S— or the like; and Q.sup.1 and Q.sup.2 each independently represent ═N— or the like.

Provided are a dyeing composition which contains an azo coloring agent represented by Formula 1 or 2, a dyed product which is obtained by being dyed with the dyeing composition, and a novel azo coloring agent. In Formulae 1 and 2, C.sup.1 represents a heteroaromatic group, A.sup.1 and B.sup.1 each independently represent a heteroaromatic group, an aromatic group, or a group having a methine structure, and at least one of A.sup.1 or B.sup.1 represents a heteroaromatic group, D.sup.1 represents an anthraquinonyl group, and E.sup.1 represents a heteroaromatic group, an aromatic group, or a group having a methine structure.

Composition for forming dye type polarizer and dye type polarizer
The present invention relates to a composition for forming a dye-type polarizer, which can be used to provide a dye-type polarizer showing excellent degree of polarization, heat resistance and dichroic ratio, and to a dye-type polarizer. The composition for forming a dye-type polarizer includes a curable anisotropic dye having a particular chemical structure; and an orientation auxiliary agent having a predetermined chemical structure.

A composition according to the embodiment of the invention is a composition containing a dichroic substance having an azo group, and the dichroic substance exhibits a highest occupied molecular orbital energy level of 5.60 eV or less and a CLogP value of 7.0 or greater.

A dichroic dye compound has an excellent alignment property when used in a light absorption anisotropic film, and has excellent solubility. A coloring composition contains the dichroic dye compound having a structure represented by Formula (1). In Formula (1), A and B represent a crosslinkable group, a and b are 0 or 1, and a+b is not less than 1. L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 represent a monovalent substituent, a single bond, or a divalent linking group. Each of Ar.sub.1 to Ar.sub.3 represents an aromatic hydrocarbon group or heterocyclic group. R.sub.1 to R.sub.3 represent a monovalent substituent. k represents an integer of 1 to 4. n1, n2, and n3 represent an integer of 0 to 4. In a case where k is 1, n1+n2+n3 is not less than 0, and in a case where k is not less than 2, n1+n2+n3 is not less than 1.

An object of the invention is to provide a coloring composition with which a light absorption anisotropic film maintaining an excellent dichroic ratio and having good pressing resistance can be formed, and a light absorption anisotropic film, a laminate, and an image display device using the coloring composition. A coloring composition according to the invention contains: a polymer compound having a repeating unit including a crosslinkable group and a mesogenic group in the same side chain, or a polymer compound separately having a repeating unit including a crosslinkable group in a side chain and a repeating unit including a mesogenic group in a side chain; and a dichroic dye compound.
