An ink jet composition of the present disclosure includes: water; a polyester resin having sulfo groups; a colorant; and a high molecular weight dispersant having anionic groups, the colorant is contained in particles formed from a material containing the polyester resin, and a rate X1 [percent on molar basis] of the sulfo groups to all constituent monomers of the polyester resin is lower than a rate X2 [percent on molar basis] of the anionic groups to all constituent monomers of the high molecular weight dispersant.

A thermal ink jet ink composition includes one or more volatile organic solvents, wherein the one or more volatile organic solvents comprise a solvent selected from C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alcohols, C.sub.3-C.sub.6 ketones, C.sub.3-C.sub.6 esters, C.sub.4-C.sub.8 ethers, and mixtures thereof. The one or more volatile organic solvents are present in an amount at least 60% by weight of the ink composition. The ink composition includes one or more binder resins present in an amount from 1% to 10% by weight of the ink composition, and one or more dyes. If water is present, it is present in amount less than 5% by weight of the ink composition. The ink composition includes less than 2% by weight of any humectant and/or wetting agent with a relative evaporation rate less than 0.3. The ink composition is suitable for use in a thermal ink jet printer.

INKJET COMPOSITION

An example of an inkjet composition includes a colorant, a density modifier selected from the group consisting of a triiodo amino derivative of isophthalic acid, a mixture of polysucrose and sodium diatrizoate, colloidal silica particles coated with polyvinylpyrrolidone, and combinations thereof; and an aqueous vehicle. The inkjet composition may be inkjet printed on a substrate, using a thermal or piezoelectric printer.
