Latent curing accelerators
A curable composition comprising (A) an epoxy resin containing on average more than one epoxy group per molecule; (B) a compound of formula A[—X—CO—CH.sub.2—CN].sub.n(1), wherein A is hydrogen or C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkoxy groups, C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkylcarbonyl groups, C.sub.7-C.sub.25 arylcarbonyl groups, hydroxyl groups, amino groups, C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkylamino groups, C.sub.1-C.sub.12 dialkylamino groups, cyano groups or halogen atoms, or A is a bivalent aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic, araliphatic or heterocyclic organic radical, X denotes —O—or —NR.sub.1—, wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkoxy groups, C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkylcarbonyl groups, C.sub.7-C.sub.25 arylcarbonyl groups, hydroxyl groups, amino groups, C.sub.1-C.sub.12 alkylamino groups, C.sub.1-C.sub.12 dialkylamino groups, cyano groups or halogen atoms, n is 1 or 2; and (C) a protected base in the form of an adduct or salt which is able to release a basic compound upon heating to a temperature greater than 70° C., is storage-stable, allows processing over a longer period of time (pot-life) and produces cured products having outstanding mechanical and thermal properties.
Fast-curing epoxy systems
The present invention provides a composition comprising a) at least one epoxy resin, b) at least one cyclic amine of the formula (I) ##STR00001##
in which R.sup.1 to R.sup.4 is H or an organic radical, with the proviso that at least one of the R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 radicals ═H, and
X═—(Y.sup.1).sub.m-(A.sup.1).sub.n-(Y.sup.2).sub.o-(A.sup.2).sub.p-(Y.sup.3).sub.q-(A.sup.3).sub.r-(Y.sup.4).sub.s— (II) where, independently of one another, m, n, o, p, q, r and s=0 or 1, A.sup.1, A.sup.2, A.sup.3=alkylene or alkenylene radical and Y.sup.1, Y.sup.2, Y.sup.3, Y.sup.4═NR.sup.5, PR.sup.5, O or S, where R.sup.5 independently=organic radical, where any two organic radicals selected from R.sup.1 to R.sup.5 and any radicals present in the alkylene and/or alkenylene radicals A.sup.1, A.sup.2, A.sup.3 may also form one or more further rings, with the proviso that at least one of the radicals selected from R.sup.1 to R.sup.5 present and any radicals present in the alkylene and/or alkenylene radicals A.sup.1, A.sup.2, A.sup.3 is substituted by at least one —NHR.sup.6 or —NH.sub.2 group, where R.sup.6=organic radical, and
c) at least one salt of a strong Brønsted acid with a counterion selected from metal ions, metal-containing ions, phosphonium ions and unsubstituted ammonium ions,
where the ratio of the epoxy groups in the epoxy resin to the sum total of all NH groups in all amines is 0.5:1 to 1.5:1,
and to processes for production thereof and use thereof.
Graphene painting with anti-corrosion and heat dissipation properties
The invention pertains to a graphene painting. The graphene painting comprises: a component A and a component B, the component A includes 40 to 50 parts by weight of epoxy resin, 6 to 10 parts by weight of acrylic resin, 15 to 20 parts by weight of zinc powder, 0.4 to 2 parts by weight of graphene, 2 to 5 parts by weight of dispersant, 0.5 to 4 parts by weight of coupling agent, 1 to 3 parts by weight of leveling agent, 6 to 10 parts by weight of filler, 9 to 14 parts by weight of synergist, 22 to 30 parts by weight of solvent; the component B includes 1 to 4 parts by weight of curing agent, 3 to 5 parts by weight of diluent. The graphene painting is coated on the surface of a magnet, which improves the corrosion resistance of the magnet and heat dissipation performance.
Coating composition and wood article manufactured therefrom
The present application relates to a coating composition and wood article manufactured therefrom, the coating composition comprising: (A) a film-forming resin composition comprising a reactive donor capable of providing two or more nucleophilic carbanions, and a reactive acceptor comprising two or more carbon-carbon double bonds; (B) a catalyst for catalyzing the Michael addition crosslinking reaction between the reactive donor and the reactive acceptor, wherein the reactive donor has an aromatic epoxy backbone, and wherein the reactive donor has an epoxy equivalent weight in the range of from 400 to 1100 g/mol, preferably in the range of from 470 to 1000 g/mol, more preferably in the range of from 470 to 900 g/mol.
Coatings
An ultra-high solids content primer coating composition comprising: (i) 5.0 to 50 wt % of at least one bisphenol F epoxy resin; (ii) 1.5 to 12 wt % of at least one silane; (iii) 0 to 20 wt % of at least one hydrocarbon resin; (iv) 0 to 15 wt % of at least one reactive diluent; (v) at least one curing agent; wherein said composition has a solids content of at least 90 wt % according to ASTM D5201-05; wherein said composition has a viscosity of 200 to 800 cps at 23° C. and 50% RH (ASTM D4287); and wherein the ratio between hydrogen equivalents in the curing agent and epoxy equivalents of the coating composition is in the range 50:100 to 120:100.
Powder coating compositions capable of having a substantially non-zinc containing primer
Corrosion and chip-resistant coatings for high tensile steel components, such as automotive coil springs, can be formed from a coating composition comprising a primer having an epoxy resin with the proviso that the epoxy resin does not have an EEW of about 860 to about 930, a polyhydroxyl functional phenolic curing agent having a HEW of about 200 to about 500, and a platy filler. The primer contains less than 20 wt % zinc. The topcoat includes an epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of about 450 to about 1400, an elastomer-modified epoxy resin having an epoxy equivalent weight of about 1000 to about 1600, a foaming agent and a reinforcing fiber.
Epoxy resin powder coating material
An epoxy resin powder coating material is provided, by which, while workability and coating property are not deteriorated, a coating film having excellent heat cycle resistance can be formed also on recent metal parts having a configuration of intricately combining a plurality of different kinds of metals of different material qualities and required to have high-standard performance. The epoxy resin powder coating material is manufactured by blending a spherical inorganic particle and acryl-based core shell type particle having an average particle diameter of 16 to 50 m in a bisphenol A-type epoxy resin, wherein an average particle diameter of the acryl-based core shell type particle is preferably 0.1 to 0.4 m.
