A universal pigment preparation including a flocculation-stabilizing medium including (a1) reaction products of di- or polycarboxylic acids or hydroxycarboxylic acids with di- or polyols, and (a2) reaction products of alkylene oxides with alkoxylatable compounds, and at least one pigment. Water-based coating composition, and multi-layer coating film
A challenge of the present invention is to provide a water-based coating composition capable of providing a design superior in depth feeling in the formation of a multilayer coating film having a so-called color clear coating film. The present invention relates to a water-based coating composition comprising a coating film-forming resin (i) and a coloring pigment dispersion (ii), wherein the coating film-forming resin (i) comprises: an acrylic resin emulsion (A) having an average particle diameter of 100 nm or less in an amount of 10 to 60% by mass in terms of the resin solid content of the coating film-forming resin (i), a water-soluble acrylic resin (B) in an amount of 5 to 40% by mass in terms of the resin solid content of the coating film-forming resin (i), and a melamine resin (C) in an amount of 20 to 40% by mass in terms of the resin solid content of the coating film-forming resin (i); and the coloring pigment dispersion (ii) comprises a coloring pigment (D) having a 90%-volume particle diameter (D90) of 100 nm or less.
IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO DISPERSIONS
A dispersion comprising a solid particulate component such as a pigment, a dispersing agent and one or more solvents is disclosed. The dispersing agent comprises a reaction product of (a) an epoxidised carboxylic acid ester; (b) a compound including at least one reactive alcohol and/or amino functional group; and (c) a derivatising agent. Such a dispersion shows excellent long-term stability. A method of producing such a dispersion having long-term stability, and a use of the dispersing agent to provide a dispersion having long-term stability are also described.
C.I. PIGMENT YELLOW 180, AQUEOUS PIGMENT DISPERSION FOR INK-JET INK, AND AQUEOUS PIGMENT INK
The aqueous pigment dispersion for IJ inks has excellent dispersion quality as well as high color strength and light fastness and is particularly suited for use as an U aqueous pigment ink. It includes C.I. Pigment Yellow 180, a block copolymer having an acid value of 10 or more and 20 or less and an amine value of 20 or less, and water. The present invention also provides C.I. Pigment Yellow 180 having an aspect ratio of 1.0 to 2.0, a primary particle shorter diameter of 30 to 100 nm, and a crystallite size of 15.0 nm or more as calculated from the Scherrer equation based on the full width at half maximum of a peak A indicated by a maximum diffraction intensity at a diffraction angle 2θ=6.7±0.50 in a powder X-ray diffraction pattern of diffraction intensities versus 2θ measured using CuKα radiation.
COLORING COMPOSITION, AND COLOR FILTER
A problem to be solved by the present invention is providing a coloring composition containing a perylene-based compound such as C.I. Pigment Violet 29 while achieving high dispersion into a glycol-based solvent, the coloring composition being usable in a display production process without causing insufficient resist curing or a drop in spectral purity. The coloring composition of the present invention contains a sulfonate compound represented by the following formula (1) and C.I. Pigment Violet 29. Coatings for Increasing Near-Infrared Detection Distances
A method for increasing a detection distance of a surface of an object illuminated by near-IR electromagnetic radiation, including: (a) directing near-IR electromagnetic radiation from a near-IR electromagnetic radiation source towards an object at least partially coated with a near-IR reflective coating that increases a near-IR electromagnetic radiation detection distance by at least 15% as measured at a wavelength in a near-IR range as compared to the same object coated with a color matched coating which absorbs more of the same near-IR radiation, where the color matched coating has a ΔE color matched value of 1.5 or less when compared to the near-IR reflective coating; and (b) detecting reflected near-IR electromagnetic radiation reflected from the near-IR reflective coating. A system for detecting proximity of vehicles is also disclosed.

Provided are a method for producing an aqueous inkjet pigment dispersion, including producing a mixed liquid of water, a pigment, a pigment dispersing polymer, and rosin acid in an amount of from 3% by mass to 30% by mass relative to the total mass of the pigment, and reducing the amount of rosin acid included in the produced mixed liquid, to less than 3.0% by mass relative to the total mass of the pigment; an aqueous inkjet pigment dispersion; and an aqueous inkjet ink.
