WATER-REDISPERSIBLE GRAPHENE POWDER
The invention described herein provides a dry graphene powder composition comprising pristine graphene flakes, wherein the pristine graphene flakes are non-covalently functionalised with polymeric amphiphilic molecules and wherein the dry graphene powder composition is capable of forming a stable homogeneous dispersion in aqueous or alcoholic media, in the absence of free dispersants or stabilizers, as well as methods for producing same, and the use thereof in graphene inks, for 2D and 3D printing, for production of flexible circuits, electrodes, electrocatalysts, for fabrication of nanocomposites and for wet-spinning of pristine graphene fibers.
MAGNETIC MULTILAYER PIGMENT FLAKE AND COATING COMPOSITION
The present invention provides a magnetic multilayer pigment flake and a magnetic coating composition that are relatively safe for human health and the environment. The pigment flake includes one or more magnetic layers of a magnetic alloy and one or more dielectric layers of a dielectric material. The magnetic alloy is an iron-chromium alloy or an iron-chromium-aluminum alloy, having a substantially nickel-free composition. The coating composition includes a plurality of the pigment flakes disposed in a binder medium.
DISPERSIONS
A method of forming a liquid dispersion of 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets in an aqueous solution is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of (1) creating a dispersing medium; (2) mixing the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets into the dispersing medium; and (3) subjecting the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets to sufficient shear forces and or crushing forces to reduce the particle size of the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets using a mechanical means. The liquid dispersion comprises the 2D material/graphitic nanoplatelets, at least one grinding media, water, and at least one wetting agent, and that the at least one grinding media is water soluble or functionalised to be water soluble.
SURFACE-MODIFIED PARTICLE MATERIAL AND SLURRY COMPOSITION
A particle material that has high dispersibility in a dispersion medium such as toluene having high hydrophobicity, and a slurry composition in which the particle material is used, are provided for solving the problem. A surface-modified particle material of the present invention includes: a particle material formed of an inorganic material; and a surface treatment agent formed of a silane compound having a first functional group that has any of C, N, and O atoms away over five or more atoms from Si to which an alkoxide is bound, the surface treatment agent allowing surface treatment of the particle material in such an amount that a degree of hydrophobicity becomes not less than 30%. Dispersibility is enhanced also in a dispersion medium having high hydrophobicity in a case where a functional group having a predetermined structure is introduced so as to impart predetermined or higher hydrophobicity.
Manufacturing method for multi paint finishes and a multi-finish extender grind
Disclosed herein are a more efficient method for manufacturing paints and a universal extender pigment grind that can be used for the paints in the same paint line as well as in different paint lines, while producing paints with similar properties as paints manufactured under traditional manufacturing techniques. The universal extender pigment grind comprises a minimum amount of diatomaceous earth.
IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO DISPERSIONS
A dispersion comprising a solid particulate component such as a pigment, a dispersing agent and one or more solvents is disclosed. The dispersing agent comprises a reaction product of (a) an epoxidised carboxylic acid ester; (b) a compound including at least one reactive alcohol and/or amino functional group; and (c) a derivatising agent. Such a dispersion shows excellent long-term stability. A method of producing such a dispersion having long-term stability, and a use of the dispersing agent to provide a dispersion having long-term stability are also described.
Plant Char Colorants
Described herein are methods, and compositions for use in the coloration of materials. The compositions described herein are black pigments derived primarily from recently-living plants or animals and are therefore renewable.
Aqueous Dispersion of Cerium (III) Carbonate Particles
The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of cerium (III) carbonate particles having a z-average particle size in the range of from 5 nm to 500 nm, which composition further comprises a capping ligand. The composition is useful as an additive in formulations that contain polymer, pigments, dyes, or tints, or a combination thereof, to promote color retention and attenuate unwanted color formation in coatings formed from these formulations.
LIGHT COLOR CONDUCTIVE COATINGS
A CNS millbase dispersion, comprises a solvent and up to 0.5 wt % of at least one CNS-derived material dispersed in the millbase dispersion and selected from the group consisting of: carbon nanostructures, fragments of carbon nanostructures, fractured carbon nanotubes, and any combination thereof. The carbon nanostructures or fragments of carbon nanostructures include a plurality of multiwall carbon nanotubes that are crosslinked in a polymeric structure by being branched, interdigitated, entangled and/or sharing common walls, and the fractured carbon nanotubes are derived from the carbon nanostructures and are branched and share common walls with one another. A Brookfield viscosity of the dispersion measured at room temperature at 10 rpm is less than 3000 cP.
