Water-In-Oil Coating Composition
A water-in-oil coating composition comprising a water phase emulsified in a nonaqueous liquid phase, wherein the non-aqueous phase comprises one or more binders including an autoxidizable binder, characterized in that: i. the composition has a solids content (SC) in the range of from 5 to 50 wt % based on the total weight of the composition; ii. the composition has a water content (WC) in the range of from 40 to 90 wt % based on the total weight of the composition; iii. the one or more binders have a mass-average molecular mass (Mw) expressed in gram/mole, as determined in accordance with GPC ISO 6014-1; and iv. the solids content of the composition, the water content of the composition and the mass-average molecular mass of the autoxidizable binder are such that value A is at most 130, wherein value A is defined as: A=[(Mw/1400)+(1.7×SC)+WC] wherein Mw is expressed in gram/mole and SC and WC are each expressed in wt %.
Durable Water-Repellent Treatment for Synthetics and Natural Fibers
Aqueous-based coating compositions include a drying oil, a fatty acid or alkylamine fatty acid, and alkyl amine, 50-90% water and one or more waxes. When applied to a fabric and cured in air, the compositions form water repellent coatings that are laundry durable. A dye may be included in the coating composition; in such cases a durable water-repellent coating is applied to the fabric and the fabric is dyed in a single curing step.
LEAD OR CHALK FOR WRITING, PAINTING AND/OR COSMETIC PURPOSES, PENCIL WITH A LEAD AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A LEAD OR CHALK
The invention relates to a biodegradable and/or compostable core or crayon for writing, drawing, and/or cosmetic purposes containing at least one fatty acid ester, at least one metal soap and/or soap, and at least one colorant, wherein the at least one fatty acid ester and the at least one metal soap and/or soap are included in a total proportion of 33 to 90 wt. %.
The invention furthermore relates to a pencil comprising such a core and to a method for producing such a core or crayon.
INSECTICIDE-CONTAINING COATING COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING PALM TREES FROM PESTS
A palm plant treatment method, palm plant treatment layer, palm plant treatment composition and method of making the palm plant treatment composition that relates to a layer comprising an insecticide and a polymeric adhesive present on a palm plant surface that is effective for treating or preventing infestation of the palm plant by a pest without the insecticide entering the vascular system of the palm plant.
Solvent borne coating composition having improved sag resistance and process for producing coatings therefrom
A solvent borne brushable coating composition having improved sag resistance and process for using the same are provided. The composition includes a crosslinkable component having one or more polymers having two or more crosslinkable groups a crosslinking component comprising one or more crosslinking agents having crosslinking groups; and a sag control agent of polyurea in drying oil. When a layer a pot mix resulting from mixing of the crosslinkable and crosslinking components is brush applied over a substrate, it has high sag resistance, low brush drag while providing desired coating properties, such as high gloss and rapid cure even under ambient conditions. The solvent borne brushable coating compositions is well suited for use in automotive refinish applications as well as direct-to-metal industrial applications, such as construction and transportation equipment.
