Stimuli-responsive micro-reservoirs for release of encapsulants
This invention relates to polymer-based partially-open, hollow reservoirs in the nano-size to micro-size range that encapsulate an additive, which can be released from the reservoirs using specific event stimuli such as reduction-oxidation and voltage change, or at will, using the same stimuli. This invention also relates to method preparing such reservoirs, and for releasing the additive. This invention further relates to matrix that comprises such reservoirs and the method of preparing such matrix. This invention also relates to applications, for example in corrosion inhibition, lubrication, and adhesion, that benefit from using such a controlled release of an additive.
COATED FLUID HANDLING COMPONENTS AND METHODS FOR PROTECTING AND EXTENDING THE SERVICE LIFE OF FLUID HANDLING COMPONENTS
Coating compositions for coating fluid handling components, and related methods, may include in some aspects a coating composition having a trifunctional silane, a silanol, and a filler. The coating composition may be applied to a surface of a fluid handling component that is configured to be exposed to a fluid. The coating composition may be applied to at least partially cover or coat the surface. The coating composition may be configured to chemically bond with a cured primer composition that includes an epoxy.
COMPOSITE COATING AND FABRICATION METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a composite coating and a method for fabricating the composite coating. The composite coating comprises a polymer layer, a metal interlayer and an amorphous metal coating. The polymer layer is formed on a substrate and acts as a diffusion barrier layer, which is thick and dense enough to prevent the corrosive substances from penetrating into the substrate. The metal interlayer is formed between the polymer layer and the amorphous metal coating for improving the adhesion of the amorphous metal coating to the substrate.
Saltwater corrosion-resistant composite coating
A saltwater corrosion resistant composite coating is described. The coating includes at least one conductive polymer, chitosan, reduced graphene oxide (rGO), and a cured epoxy. The rGO and chitosan are dispersed in particles of the conductive polymer to form a 3D network. At least a portion of the chitosan is covalently bound to the rGO. At least a portion of the conductive polymer is covalently bound to the chitosan, and the 3D network is dispersed in the cured epoxy.
Metal Surface-Treating Agent, and Metal Material With Coating Film and Method for Manufacturing Same
The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a metal surface treatment agent which can form a film having excellent corrosion resistance and excellent hydrophilicity on or over a surface of a metal material; a method of producing a metal material having a film by using the metal surface treatment agent; and a metal material having a film, which is obtained by the method. A chemical agent, which contains prescribed amounts of a water-soluble or water-dispersible resin (A) and a compound (B) having a nitrile group and an amino group, is capable of forming a film having excellent corrosion resistance and excellent hydrophilicity on or over a surface of a metal material and, therefore, can solve the above-described problem.
Composite material and use thereof
The present invention relates to a composite material, in particular a switchable functional material, comprising (a) a porous carrier material and a swellable material, a method for its preparation and its use in coatings. The composite material is suitable for the production of water-repellent and water-vapor diffusion-open coatings, as well as the use of the composite material.
COMPOSITION AND COMPOSITE MOLDED ARTICLE CONTAINING SAME
A composition having a carbon material and a redox substance with a redox potential of −0.2 (V vs. SHE) or higher and 1.5 (V vs. SHE) or lower. A composition having a carbon material that is a carbon fiber. A composition where the carbon fiber is in a form of a chopped strand, roving, textile, non-woven fabric, or unidirectional material.
Self-healing coatings for oil and gas applications
A coated article comprises a substrate and a self-healing coating disposed on a surface of the substrate, the self-healing coating comprising a metallic matrix; and a plurality of micro- or nano-sized particles dispersed in the metallic matrix; the micro- or nano-sized particles comprising an active agent disposed in a carrier comprising a micro- or nano-sized metallic container, a layered structure, a porous structure, or a combination comprising at least one of the foregoing.
